10/10 DM!!! Jack is a great dm who has an awesome talent for creating interesting NPCs. His stories feel indepth and he is excellent at setting the mood. He has a strong understanding of the game and incorporates all the players backstories into an interesting tale. Jack is excellent at teaching the game. I have been playing a new in person campaign with him which contains multiple new players and everyone has learned and massively enjoyed it. The effort he puts into the stories and his quick wit and acting skill combine to make him a great dm.
Jack is great at going with the flow of player actions, and improvising responses to even the wildest of PC plans. His ability to embody a character is superior to any GM I've played with. He clearly puts a lot of effort into designing set-piece scenes, including visual representations, descriptions, and background sounds. His presentational style while is best described as cinematic, with a good sense of when to highlight each character and sharing the spotlight throughout the party. He's also not afraid to check in with his players - making sure everyone's on the same page. If he is unsure of how to make a ruling in a situation, he'll admit to it and be willing to work with the players to come up with a resolution that's both interesting and fair for everyone. He's been great at introducing the newer players in our group to how D&D works, not just the rules, but allowing them space to grow as role players within the game world. Also, he has a very lovely dog.
This was my first time playing D&D but I feel the bar has been set HIGH! Jack is very knowledgable, but also sets out his house rules very clearly and makes space for players to make suggestions. His theatrical training means he's excellent at fun voices, engaging storytelling and creating an interesting world. I am always so impressed with the amount of detail involved and frankly do not know where he finds the time! He also creates a very safe and inclusive space and is mindful of all the different needs and wants of the players. As a n00b, I have felt respected, supported and encouraged. Even when I am having an awful day and am feeling grumpy and unsocial (which is quite often), our sessions always leave me feel energised and eager to continue the campaign. 10/10.
