About Hojou
I've been playing Dungeons and Dragons off and on since it first came out. I've DM’d more one-shots than I can remember, and a number of long-term campaigns -- both in person and online. I have DM'd almost 2000 hours on Roll20. I've been in quite a few leadership positions in online gaming communities since the internet was invented, and for the majority of my adult life I’ve been a professional educator. I like to think these experiences help me keep an open-mind when gaming with strangers, and help me get along with a wide variety of people and create a fun, engaging, and cooperative atmosphere for diverse groups with different goals.

How Hojou runs games
** My games are always free! ** I prefer players who are interested in immersion, rather than constantly making jokes and breaking the fourth wall. I like to keep a good pace, but still allow time for players to experiment and digest everything that is happening. I use a mix of battle-maps and theater of the mind, as well as a lot of handouts, visual scenery, and soundscapes. I provide both exciting combat experiences, and robust role-play opportunities. The people you meet, including the monsters you kill, are more than cardboard cut-outs! I make roleplay easy and fun for everyone, especially beginners. No acting skills or fancy voices are necessary. You only need to have some idea of what your character might do, and why. Role-playing is about immersion, not performance. Character actions have consequences and impact NPC behavior and what's going on in the world. The fate of those around you depend on your actions!
Hojou's ideal table
I try to keep our time at the table focused, but fun. The goal is to take advantage of the available play-time. Socializing is fine, but should happen outside of the sessions.
