Hi folks! I have been a DM since DND5e came out and I played since 3.5. I know my DND rules inside out but I'm a pretty friendly DM nonetheless and everyone gets a chance to shine. I am not here to play against you nor to kill you (until the final boss fight that is), we'll tell your stories together. I will be DMing some 2024 5e.

How Carl Dussault runs games
Really "player centric" DM. I am here to tell a story about the characters, not about me! I use a set of home rules that are pretty advantageous for players and are usually well liked. The only thing I forbid are characters from other settings (Magic, CritRole, etc.) I do not own DND Beyond but I use FoundryVTT. We will fit your characters right in. This being said, you will have to create your characters on what is available to you and with the material (books/ebooks) you have at your disposition. I can't provide Beyond stuff for you.

I know the rules and follow them but I will let the rule of cool prevail if it can shine a light on the PCs every now and then. I will say no when the "cool move" someone is trying is taking something away from a class (mechanics-wise). I welcome any kind of player be it the quiet one, the experienced role-player or the min-maxer. I encourage RPing because good RP often creates a snowball effect amongst players but I will not ask too much of anyone that isn't comfortable (meaning I won't impose a gameplay). The only attitude I am looking to avoid is the mysterious lonesome warrior. A player that wants to play solo (or hard to get) should play a video game. Finally, I'll never fudge the rules or come up with some new weird rules to create some "DM fun" for myself. I can have my fun following the rules everyone knows and loves.
