About Geek Dad Energy

Hello there! I'm Blake, sometimes going by the online handle of Geek Dad Energy (mainly because that's what I want to manifest). I'm a gamer, role player, and storyteller with nearly thirty years of experience. I've been running games almost as long as I can remember, and in truth, there's nothing I enjoy more. I've been fortunate enough to contribute game design to projects created by designers that have worked on the likes of the Fallout series, Star Trek Online, Mage: The Ascension, and other immensely popular products, and it's an absolute joy for me to be able to bring that skillset to tabletop role playing games. A participant in any campaign I run will receive a bespoke digital miniature created for their character, guided by their design notes. With minimal setup on your end, you will be able to enjoy custom animated maps, as well as music and sound effects, to increase your immersion. I'm also happy to offer build advice and mechanical assistance as we navigate our game, and will be your biggest fan throughout the process. Whether you want a combat heavy Elden Ring style grind, a highly complex political game reminscent of Game of Thrones, or an epic focused on discovery or exploring the unknown, I've got the tools in my toolbox to provide that experience. Players can expect a storyteller that is collaborative, patient, and as invested in your character's journey as you are. This is the story of *your* character's, and I'm here to help you explore that. I am extremely passionate about ensuring player agency, providing safety and consent tools, and creating and protecting safe and inclusive spaces. How Geek Dad Energy runs games

As a GM, it's best to call my style "reactive". I'm excellent at improv and while I have large overarching story beats, I like to "leave blank space on the map" for you as a player to exert narrative agency, and react to that appropriately. I grew up doing theatre, so enjoy portraying a wide range of characters (all with unique voices), and pride myself on designing appropriately challenging encounters, both combat and otherwise, for my players to navigate.
