About me
I've been playing and GMing for almost 20 years now and I was really excited about the possibility of doing something I genuinely love for a living. I love writing plots for D&D games because it offers an intense creative satisfaction that I suspect few other things can. I love supporting players who are new to the hobby.
GM Style
Roleplay: This is my favorite of the three pillars by far. I love nothing more than watching my players interact with the world around them while developing their character's voice and standpoint. As a DM, I pride myself on being able to consistently create diverse and interesting NPCs and environments for my players and their character's to engage. Roleplay should account for about 40% of the playtime in a given session. Action: This is where the stakes we established in the roleplay phase escalate to their dramatic climax. I like my combats to feel intense and engaging. I use a battle grid but I tend to interpret combat rules fairly liberally. Action sequences tend to make up about 35% of a given session. Exploration: For me this pillar does two things: 1) It provides a narrative opportunity to ground the characters to the world and 2) it gives me an opportunity to reward curiosity and clever role play. This pillar of play should account for the remaining 25% of play time. The gear: I use zoom to facilitate my games but I'm happy to learn new software to accommodate players. I can provide tactical maps but I like to keep them as abstract as possible to allow for the most creative uses of the environment. General: If what you want to do is cooler than it is improbable it works. Cool is the rule.
