Hi everyone! I'm a newer DM with a few years of experience under my belt. I really enjoy the strategic and adventurous nature of TTRPGs and am a believer of the saying: "if you aren't having fun, why are you playing?!" I like to run official D&D modules with newer players as it helps everyone learn what the right amount of "bumper lanes" are so that we don't stray too far off the path. I also thoroughly enjoy running through official campaigns and appreciate the positives of having a set story so that nobody feels like things are being changed against them as the game progresses. I'm also working on my player immersion, describing the world the players are in and what they see around them. Having helpful guides from an official book helps me out a lot!

How Nico runs games
My DMing style is promoting and presenting to the players as many game relevant decision points as possible, allowing players to roleplay as their characters to figure out how to beat any given encounter or scenario. I tend to lean towards guiding the party towards set encounter points rather than free roaming improvisation, but I always keep a few fun scenarios in the game to really let every character's personality shine. I'm more of a rule follower, but also very easily convinced to stretch the rules. Players are encouraged to attempt any feat, but I always give the stakes and potential downfalls of such a feat (I try not to flat out say "no" to a player) After all, its all pretend and we're here to have fun! I use Roll 20 as a visual aid and battle map so players can move around their tokens and see the space in combat. I use D&D Beyond for Player Character sheets, dice rolls, initiative tracking, and other back end DM resources. I use discord for voice/video chat, although this is also possible in Roll20. I'm big on encouraging players to use video while playing, so we can get as close to the "tabletop" experience as possible!
