GM Style
I like to run 3 hour games and typically play rules as written with low to no home-brew rules. I can home-brew adventures or run modules. What you can expect of me as a GM: - I aim to be fair according to the rules of the game and the agreed upon rules of the table. - I aim to be consistent with rulings and open to limited discussion about a ruling at the table. I will often turn to what the book says as the ultimate referee to solve these types of problems. - I will rotate the spotlight so that everyone gets their turn. If you do not want the spotlight or feel that I have not called on you in a while feel free to call attention to it either in game or by messaging me privately. - I will be respectful of everyone’s time. I will not run the game beyond 3 hours. If we are not finished with the adventure within the allotted time, then we will just stop playing. - I will help the players by offering suggestion or reminding them of things their characters might know. - I will boot disruptive players from the table. There is a reasonable expectation for everyone that shows up that they not be compelled to indulge or tolerate misbehavior from a fellow player. Any behavior that is overtly crude or sexual, maliciously targeted, or harmful will not be tolerated no matter how it is meant to be taken. What I expect from players: - Be respectful. Of yourself, and the other players, including the GM. Try not to hog the spotlight or talk over others. We have a limited time to play and an even more finite amount of time to allow everyone playtime. I typically play over discord voice chat while using FoundryVTT. I will provide a DndBeyond link for character creations along with a link to foundry to play in. Swearing is okay as long as it is not hateful or targeted.

Jon is a fantastic world and character builder. He really builds a world that both you and your character feel invested in. Very knowledgeable of the rules and storytelling in a way that feels seamless. He is very understanding and accessible to new players so no one feels left out. As a former forever DM I am in awe of his improvisation skills and world building.

He is really good with beginners and is very willing to help you out and answer any questions you may have about the game or your character. He puts a lot of time into his stories and adventures so they are engaging and allow tons of player creativity. Overall, whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, I think he would be a great GM for your next game.

I would genuinely recommend Jonathan to any player/group. He is adaptive, open to feedback and more than willing to work together to find a solution. Thanks to his great repertoire of game systems and years of GMing he can implement rules and/or homebrew that enhances the game for the entire group. He rewards creative solutions to puzzles/encounters and is genuinely a great guy to be around. The list goes on but if you are looking for a GM that cares about the game and its players then don't hesitate to give him a shot.

Great storyteller and worldbuilder. Have played at his table multiple times over the years and have never had a bad time. Very in tune with his players and their enjoyment levels. He does a great job of balancing role play and combat in the games. Very knowledgeable of the games that he plays and is great at making fair rulings and a fantastic teacher to beginners!

John is an incredible game master who cares about his players and what they want to get out of a game. I’ve done multiple campaigns with him and session 0 always includes opportunities for the players to help world build and share their hopes for the game. I’m always happy to have a seat at his table.

This GM is very inclusive and great for beginners. He takes a steady pace and is able to efficiently explain rules and how to play the game. No moment is ever filled with any “dead space” - he keeps things like combat engaging and fun. Many of his NPCS are memorable and lovable. He is a grand storyteller with elaborate and attentive details to landscapes, scenery, and descriptions. It makes the experience very immersive. To me it seems like he lets the players tell the story rather than he tells the story—he is but a simple guide letting us pave the way forward! It feels good to have your own choices in these games without being railroaded and stuck to one plot line.
