About me

My name is Dominik and I have been playing RPGs a couple of times per week for over 30 years - most of the time as the gamemaster. I am a huge fan of storytelling no matter what medium it happens in and I have acted in theatre as well. All of which comes together to form my style, which emphasizes dramatic conflict, character development and difficult decisions. While I am based in the heart of Europe over the years I have had the pleasure and privilege to play with people from all over the world, be it online or offline. I run all sorts of games, but despite me getting on in years, the games are decidedly new school and range from gumshoe, 2D20 (Homeworld, Star Trek, Dune) to Powered by the Apocalypse and Blades in the Dark. When I run games, I put the characters you create front and center, you might not be the most powerful people in the world, but to the story your characters are the most important people in the world and always have at least me as their number one fan. As a software developer in real life I have an easy time running games online and use all kinds of tools to assist, from virtual tabletops to shard documents, but I do so only when it enhances the experience. So technology is welcome, as long as it doesn't get in the way of the RPG experience and fun at the (virtual) table. I am always happy to answer questions and try to be as welcoming to new and old players alike as I can. When I run a game, I will be creating a private discord for that group and answer questions or inquiries quickly.

GM Style

I always put the player characters first. It is their story we are here to tell after all, so their decisions, trials and tribulations are what matters. My games are a buffet of opportunities and choices, both presented by me and made up by the players by just picking a plan and sticking with it. I will never make you suffer for coming up with a creative strategy or out of the box solution. I have a very good sense of pacing and spotlight and always make sure nobody gets left behind or falls by the way side.
