About Marcus

Hello! I am Marcus Ford, a narrative designer living in Stockholm. I realized the power of telling shared stories over a table when I was 12, and now I have spent the better part of my life telling thousands of stories with friends, family, and strangers on the internet. As an avid storyteller and experienced GM, my focus always comes down to the players, and building a tale together. I'm most comfortable in playing 5e as I have a great mastery over the rules and know how to tweak features in the game that will lead to dynamic and balanced gameplay. I believe in a game filled with unique combat encounters, creating a space where players feel safe, and the feeling of agency over the characters we all embody. My goal is to tell stories that will stay with us until the end of our days. If you're interested in asking questions, proposing game ideas, or just having a chat, please hit me up on Discord or send me an email! Email: marcus_dm5e@hotmail.com Discord: BoxParadox#3692

How Marcus runs games

While you're at my table, my top priorities are fun, player safety, and character agency. I use several google forms to sort out tabletop safety, player likes/dislikes, and character backstories. At my table, I expect everyone to be respectful/considerate of everyone else. My style of running games is to run heavily narrative focused campaigns with plenty of chance for interacting with NPCs, unraveling mysteries, and shenanigans. Primarily, I enjoy a story with stakes. When I say stakes, it doesn't mean that I will dangle your character's mother and father over a gorillagator pit every other session, but it means that for the most part, I take character actions within our world seriously. The best part of TTRPGs is when you feel like your character's actions ripple across the world and can lead to minimal to drastic changes in the story's course. With all this in mind, I lean towards using milestone leveling in addition to a few homebrew rules that modify the player experience to put more value into the character creation process. No stranger to combat, I love to run fun and dynamic encounters over numerous random encounters with very little impact to the story. With a million more things to say about my style of gming, I just want to lead off with that. I am excited to speak with anyone interested in playing with me and what I can do to enhance the experience.
