About Madeline
I have been active as a game master for over a decade, and I've played a variety of systems. My favorites include GURPS, Shadowrun, FATE, and Genesys. I've also set campaigns in a variety of genres, including cyberpunk fantasy, medieval fantasy, urban fantasy, and space opera. In my spare time, when I'm not gming or playing tabletop rpgs, I enjoy playing the sims, writing, reading, coding, and various arts and crafts. I've written a novel, an urban fantasy piece called Lien on my Soul. Let me know if you want to game with me!

How Madeline runs games
I like open world style games with a lot of role-playing, but I'm also rather fond of crunchy, very strategic combat. I enjoy offering open ended problems and seeing how the players deal with them. My favorite systems are GURPS, Shadowrun, Genesys, and FATE, in more or less that order. Make of that what you will. While I like my campaigns to be heavy on character growth and development, I don't generally have much long term plot beyond that. I expect my players to provide a backstory of between 500 to 1000 words, and enjoy incorporating characters' previous experiences in a campaign. I enjoy explaining the rules of a particular system to new players, and I love introducing players to the concept of tabletop rpgs in general. I also love to help with character creation when a player needs it. Don't feel you can't join one of my games because you don't know the system.

I deal with rules issues by...
Making up something that makes sense on the spot, making notes, and looking it up in detail later. If I know exactly how to find the rule in question, sometimes I look it up
I once ran a session...
Where the group of shadowrunners kidnapped a cop, dressed him up in an alien costume, and convinced the FBI he was actually an extraterrestrial. Can't make this shit up.
My games focus on...
Roleplay. Hands down, that is my favorite part of the game.
Madeline's ideal table
I prefer game with 3-6 players, and, while I usually prep extensively, I'm also prepared to improvise if things go off the rails. I follow the rule of cool religiously, lol. Rules can be a lot of fun to play with, which is why I love shadowrun so much, but they can also get in the way of fun if you apply them too harshly. If you want me to GM a game you don't see on my list, feel free to ask if I can! Remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
