About Penny|Cat Supremacy Games

Roleplaying is my passion and stories are my life. I wrote my first story when I was six. It was written in barely readable scribbles on the last few pages of my math notebook. As expected of the creation of a child that barely knew the difference between s and z, the story structure was clumsily thrown together, the prose were abyssmal and the whole thing was derivative of pieces of media I had consumed. But I was already caught up in the thrill of writing and I have not stopped since. My tastes and skills have changed, but my love and passion has remained unwavering. In many ways, roleplaying and TTRPGs felt like a continuation of my passion for storytelling- as they too are stories told in a more interactive medium. And just like I fell in love with writing, I fell head over heels for games like Dungeons & Dragons, Monsterhearts and Vampire the Masquerade. My games place a focus on characters and roleplay. Combat is fun and there will be plenty of it, depending on the system, but what I truly love is threading backstories into the actual game and seeing bonds develop between the characters as the story unravels around them. I live for large backstories. The bigger the better (innuendo not intended). Give me the tea, the drama, the gossip. I am here for it all. Some themes I love in particular are Found Family, Coming of Age and Healing From Trauma, though each game will intergrate those elements to a different degree-if any, when that theme does not fit in our specific campaign. I believe in Rule of Cool so rules will typically take a seat back to a fulfilling story. Homebrew is allowed after I have checked and approved of it. I don't subscribe to the philosophy of saying no to my players, unless their actions cross a line by making someone uncomfortable, in which case, I will. But generally I like to let them take the reins so they may explore to their heart's content. You want to scheme to overthrow the King and derail my whole campaign? Fucking amazing, bring it on. The table wants to adopt a pack of goblins? More power to you. What's that? You want to stop mid-battle for a musical number? I can play the guitar (poorly, mind you). The examples are just a tad bit exagerated, but the message is the same. I facilitate the world, setting and NPCs for my players, but I want them to explore and live out their character's story. I don't railroad and I embrace creativity in all its forms. All my games are friendly and welcoming to Queer, Neurodiverse, Female Identifying and POC Folk. I literally belong in 3/4 of those groups so it would be hella weird if I was a bigot. Needless to say, no hate, including racism, homophobia, transphobia or sexism, will be tolerated in this household so if anyone wants to do that, please, the door is right there, thank you for your time, have a great life. That being said, certain games may deal with heavier subjects. That is not an endorsement from me as a DM, merely an examination of those events and a chance to interact with difficult topics with a safety net for those who are interested in a more challenging experience. I am relatively new to Start Playing and paid DMing, but I am not new to DMing as a whole. It seemed like an interesting experience so I figured why not try it? I have my own lion share of campaigns under my belt. I have experience running D&D 5e, Monsterhearts, Vampire the Masquerade 5e, Masks, Avatar Legends, Legend of the Five Rings 5e and Thirsty Sword Lesbians, and I am always looking to try out new TTRPGs. Exalted, SCUP, Call of Cthullu and Werewolf the Apocalypse are only some of the games I am itching to try out sooner rather later (damn you, real life, for not letting me play TTRPGS all day!). Also should probably mention my big con. I got an accent. It is not horrible really, I have never really had problems being understood or anything, but it makes pulling off voices hard for me. I will still do my best of course, but if you loooove voice acting Mercer-style, you should probably know that I struggle with that aspect of roleplay sometimes. But enough rambling about me. Thank you for reading so far and I hope we will get to play together! Till then, see ya! (Also, to play with me, you have to join the Cat Supremacy Cult. I don't make the rules-Satan does.)

How Penny|Cat Supremacy Games runs games

Mentioned it in my introduction too, but I love, love, love (did you get the impression I love this thing yet?) intergrating character backstories into the campaign. The thumb rule is that the more you give me, the more I have to work with. If you write one page, I have one page of material to pull from. If you write me a novel, I have a novel of material to pull from. I like to make the characters struggle before they get what they want. The happy end is not as fun if it was already guaranteed. Roleplay takes the front seat in my games. I love it in all its forms, PC to PC or PC to NPC. When I say roleplay, I don't mean just banter (though I love that too), but also deep emotional moments where the characters struggle and have to face their demons. The ability to have those moments of seriousness is what makes a campaign shine in my experience. Of course, that is not to be forced and should arise naturally and we will have jokes and funny shenanigans in between. The actual split depends on the system. For D&D, it will be about 60/40 roleplay to combat. For other systems, it will be much more roleplay leaning because the other systems I tend to run lend to that sort of playstyle. I support Rule of Cool in my tables so we will focus on having fun instead of searching what is said on page 135 of the rule book.
