About me

Hey there, I’m John! I’m a married guy from Northeast PA and a proud father of one human, two cats, and a puppy. I like to call myself a Big Freakin' Geek, which is where BFG Entertainment comes from. I’m into all sorts of geeky stuff like theater, horror, amusement parks, and pro wrestling. I stumbled into RPGs after running through all the other content on Dropout and then falling into a wormhole of Dimension 20 against my better judgment. It opened my eyes to how much the RPG community has moved beyond just high fantasy stories, which never really appealed to me. That’s probably why I didn’t get into it sooner. I gave D&D a shot, and while I loved the character building and roleplay, the battle mechanics just weren’t my thing. I feel like conflict is a great part of storytelling, but I wanted something more flexible that focuses on driving the narrative forward. So now, I’m diving into TTRPGs and looking to sharpen my skills as a GM. With my background in writing, storytelling, and theater, I like to think I bring a unique and creative perspective to the table. Thanks to various shows and a lot of research, I’ve become a big fan of Kids on Bikes and Kids on Brooms because of their storytelling and collaborative nature. I’m planning to run some shorter campaigns to learn the ropes and get comfortable. Eventually, I hope to introduce a larger narrative I’m working on, aiming to create memorable adventures that everyone will enjoy. If there’s anything else you’d like to know, feel free to reach out and chat. When I’m around, I enjoy a great conversation and sharing experiences.

GM Style

My approach as a GM is all about creating a laid-back, fun, and engaging atmosphere for my players. I focus heavily on storytelling and roleplaying, weaving together immersive plots and rich character development. I'm not a traditionalist, so I like to bend the rules sometimes to keep things exciting and ensure everyone is having a good time. Collaboration is key for me, and I love working with my players to co-create dynamic narratives. With a fondness for puzzles and escape rooms, these elements often sneak into my stories, adding extra fun and challenge. If you're looking for an outside-of-the-box thinker, then you may want to give me a try. My goal is to make sure everyone feels relaxed and involved, exploring thrilling adventures that are as enjoyable to play as they are to create.
