How DM Berry runs games

I'm a storyteller, a roleplayer, and I love to set the mood. Music, voices, sounds, and a good battlemap or beautiful theatre of the mind imagery are part of what I bring! I am not afraid of a good battle either, and I love to bring an immersive, descriptive fight to the table! My table rules are primarily as-intended, with a few changes to make the experience pop (such as Crunchy Crits and the Rule of Cool). I have a full list available on my website.

Rules are...

Important! They make the game work. But there are situations where a cool roleplay moment shouldn't be stopped by a rule.. and when those situations arise, I am happy to let the roleplay flow a bit.

DM Berry's ideal table

My ideal table consists of about 5 players who enjoy the game together, as equals. Where everyone has input that is fitting for both them as a person, and as their player character. Where their choices matter, and where at the end of the session, everyone wants it to be next week, so we can continue.

I love it when a player

dares to break the chains and go full roleplay. To dare and try a voice for once. To be bold and take a chance. To be themselves!

I think min/maxing...

can be fun for some players. It's not my personal preferred style, but if a player wants to be the best version of a character they have in their minds, and don't sacrifice their roleplay for it, I am fine with it!
