About me

Hello, I'm Atticus, I'm a DM that has been running games for about 5 years. I mostly do virtual games with my friends but most of them said I should try being a professional so here I am! My playstyle tends to be about the players, tending to shift the course of my sessions based on what they want to do, while still giving subtle hints on where to go if they have nothing in mind. A large amount of my games play with gestalt classing homebrew, where you get to play two classes as one class.

GM Style

As I said in my about me "My playstyle tends to be about the players, tending to shift the course of my sessions based on what they want to do, while still giving subtle hints on where to go if they have nothing in mind. A large amount of my games play with gestalt classing homebrew, where you get to play two classes as one class." To add onto that, I quite enjoy having a mix of the big three gameplay aspects, being Combat, Roleplay and Exploration, and changing the amount of them based on what the players tend to enjoy. While I'm not the best with voices, I do tend to enjoy at least attempting to add variety to my character's voices.

Really helped me out with playing the game, and quite patient with my questions. Im not the quickest learner, but he has made every game quite pleasant. He also puts a decent amount of work into the sessions, and overarching campaign. Even taking backgrounds the players make up. All in all quite the fun times.

Been a player of Atticus's for at least two or three years. Their games are always a blast allowing for all sorts of surprises and adventures, with fun & wacky encounters made for almost any character you could come up with. A great DM and an even better friend.

Atticus Von Schwoll is a clever and conscientious game master who can “read the room” effectively and communicate efficiently. They run their games with a focus on group enjoyment and comfort. Atticus is dedicated to being consistent with session dates and usually has groups of players who also maintain consistency in attending sessions. Players will find Atticus a good fit if they: enjoy high power campaigns; dungeon delving-style adventures featuring plentiful combat and lasting several sessions each; exploring player-made content; and/or a light-hearted campaign story with plentiful jokes. One of my personal favorite moments was combining the extreme power of my companion’s paladin, a variety of buff spells from myself and the rest of us on said paladin, and a couple consumables to deal ~200 damage to a “boss”, slaying it before it got its turn! Since the game was MTG+Terraria themed, we slew the Eye of Cthulhu in one combat round. Beautiful.

I have been in Atticus’ campaigns for nearly 4 years. They are extremely creative with a great rule of cool balance! They create compelling npcs that aid in organic story telling, very comfortable role playing with varying rp comfort levels. World building is grown naturally as the campaign is played, and there are a lot of opportunities to explore it. There are also a lot of opportunities for party members to collect cool items and create fully rounded personalities through role play. I’ve laughed and cried at Atticus’ table, from Greek tragedy character arc, to tap dancing to intimidate out of a grapple. I would recommend them to anyone, at most any level. On the technical side, they are very good at receiving and implementing feedback. They create a safe space at the table for everyone. Very much a “playing with the party” DM instead of a “playing against the party” DM. Very communicative and perceptive! It’s honestly faster to ask them a rules question than to google it! Extremely familiar with rules and mechanics.

Atticus is very knowledgeable and friendly. Great humor, patient, and always a pleasure to talk to. They are awesome at creating a balanced experience, in equal parts roleplay, combat, and creativity. They have experience with teaching newer players but is also good at creating more complex scenarios for veterans. Atticus is a safe and inclusive person for all walks of life. They also understand the troubles with real life interfering with campaigns, and is open to working through those issues.

Atticus is a great DM. They are a great person to be around in general for some great laughs or even learning things (Like MTG for example.) They strive to make sure that the players are having fun while keeping everything understandable and on track for the most part, It's DND and there's gonna be moments where everyone's dying of laughter. Atticus is very understanding of things that can happen or if you're in a rough spot, be it financial (Can't get a Mini or unable to get Tabletop) or mental where you just need a break, Atticus makes sure that you can be included while also doing what you may need to do as They'll save your character and protect them with their life while being ready with open arms for you to return when you're comfortable. Atticus is overall a great person and quite the joy to be around since you'll also probably be offered and invited to just generally hang out like his other groups, just chatting and watching videos together or even playing some non-DND games together that are a blast for just goofing off and having a laugh when it's not game day. Atticus is also great for homebrew stuff, having made a couple of big homebrew things themself while also generally allowing it, of course, make sure to swing it by them as most DMs prefer, and there ya go, that way your character can be your character. Overall, Atticus is a great DM and friend and I highly recommend joining one of their games and seeing what unfolds while being added to the ever-growing friend group!
