“I started GMing, both in person and online, back in 2017. When more games started going online, Wizards of the Coast invited me to be on their official Twitch stream to talk about how different groups of players and GMs will want different things out of online gaming. I am a best-selling author of D&D adventures and supplements, and have been nominated for awards as both an adventure designers and editor. It took me a long road to get to playing RPGs. I used to be a news reporter, and a sports writer. Wrote about sports three times actually! In between I taught some of UCLA's more popular classes, with students from all over the world. Having that kind of life experience shaped my GMing style, teaching me how to adapt to a wide range of players who may want different things when they sit down to play.”

How Noah Grand runs games
My GM style depends a great deal on my players and what they want. One full length campaign was geared towards brand new players who wanted social hijinks as they learned the rules of D&D. Another was for players who have played much longer than I have and wanted to combine tactical combat with a feeling of being heroes. A third group wanted a campaign with villains inspired by real life, so they could get some catharsis. More than anything else, my GM style is based on being able to improvise based on what my players want. Sometimes that is a linear adventure, following the adventure exactly as written. Sometimes the players look at a little mischief in a tavern to start an adventure and say "oh that sounds like fun, lets do a lot more of that and check what we were supposed to do an hour later." I try to be the calm facilitator so players can have fun while trying to make sure that everyone gets a chance to spend some time in the spotlight.
