About Sarzo

Hello heroes. It is Sarzo. I have been playing and DMing Dungeons and Dragons...well for as long as is possible. I like to create fun and challenging campaigns and one shots that require a balanced party and a mix of combat and role play. I enjoy a balanced style of play where we let the dice decide and winning is not necessarily a foregone conclusion, but with good game play (and a bit of luck) it is likely. I make my own maps and provide a rich and colorful gaming experience using FoundryVTT.

How Sarzo runs games

I enjoy a balanced style of play where we let the dice decide. I enjoy playing a structured game, governed by rules where success is not guaranteed, but with good game play (and a bit of luck) it is likely. I make my own maps and provide a rich and colorful gaming experience using FoundryVTT.

I deal with rules issues by...

doing what is most appropriate at the time to ensure a smooth session. I then research the appropriate rules after the session and discuss with the player off-line to reach a consensus on how to best move forward.

Rules are...

necessary, otherwise we're playing Calvin Ball, but flexible to ensure an enjoyable session for everyone.

Sarzo's ideal table

I enjoy players that are engaged and contribute to the story through their actions. Players determine what happens next. Outcomes are not pre-determined. The dice determine success or failure, and we all find out together what happens.

I love it when a player

Does something that I had not accounted for and I have to think fast. My goal is to make it appear to the players as if I had it planned all along, when I am actually just winging it.

I think min/maxing...

Is not as effective as you think it is. Optimizing your character is one thing, and is expected. You are much more effective cooperating and collaborating with the other characters in the party.

My perfect party mix is

A fun collaborative party. The best parties are a mix of classes that complement one another through their abilities and cooperative game play.
