How Jake the DM runs games
My primary DM style is what I would call sandbox. I like creating worlds and places, filling them with NPCs, and giving your characters full autonomy to explore and find your own narrative. Equally, I can run more linear, railroaded exeriences. I'm flexible to the wants and needs of you and your group. Immersive gameplay is important to me. You will find a game filled with maps, visualisations, curated music, all in service of keeping you immersed in the world. My sessions are a guided experience. You don't need to know any of the rules of the game. I have that covered. Consider me the game engine. All you need to know is what you want to do, and I'll tell you which rule applies or which dice you need to roll. I like to run dark and gritty campaigns with a slice of humour, but if you're looking for something different, we can talk it through. I have DM'd for groups as small as one person and as many as ten people at once. The sweet spot is 4-8, but I'm flexible. Timescales that suit you. I have have run many one-shots, and some campaigns that have spanned for years. I've also run a spectrum of campaigns that land somewhere in the middle of that. Whatever you're looking for--a simple one and done game, or an epic saga--we can put it together. My games run on FoundryVTT, so you can play them in the comfort of your own home. I run the Foundry server so there are no additional costs. Only a headset and an internet connection are required.
