Greetings, friends! I’m Chris, and I bring over 17 years of experience as a GM to our adventures. As a 3D artist and storyteller, Dungeons and Dragons has become the perfect outlet for my diverse creative passions. With more than a decade studying 3D environment art and game design, I’m excited to see what incredible stories we can craft together. GM Style
I take great pride in crafting immersive settings where player agency is the cornerstone. One of my greatest joys as a GM is collaborating with players to integrate their characters into the world, weaving their backstories seamlessly into the larger narrative. I target a healthy balance between role-play and combat. WORLDBUILDING: Modules are significantly enriched with a blend of third-party and homebrew content. NPCs are richly crafted with unique motivations and interests, contributing to a breathing ecosystem where causality and player choices are deeply explored. TOOLS: Foundry has been my preferred VTT for years. Over 100 paid/free modules provide countless quality-of-life and visual enhancements, including true 3D tokens/environments, automation, D&D Beyond character import, lookup tables and more; all customizable based on player preference and system performance needs. To date I have amassed over 3TB of high-quality miniature STL files which I convert and optimize for use as 3D and 2D tokens in Foundry. Each figure is digitally painted to deliver an unparalleled immersive experience. Every battlemap is personally crafted with a focus on detail and playability, utilizing a combination of Dungeondraft (with Crosshead Studios assets), Dungeon Alchemist, and Unreal Engine. Every map is created with sound level design principles, ensuring maximum strategic choice. RULES: I generally adhere to the rules as written, ensuring a fair and consistent framework for gameplay. When ambiguities or points of contest arise, I resolve them through table consensus, considering the specific circumstances and involving my players in the decision-making process. Above all, I temper my rule-based decisions with a focus on player satisfaction, adapting the rules when necessary to enhance enjoyment and narrative. This balanced approach creates an engaging and inclusive gaming experience where every player feels valued and empowered. COMBAT: Drawing from my years as a Marine Corps officer and combat instructor, and inspired by works like Keith Ammann’s "The Monsters Know What They’re Doing," I create kinetic, high-risk/high-reward encounters that demand strategic thinking, test party strengths and weaknesses, and foster creativity. Enemies in my campaigns adapt to their circumstances and use tactics that align with their culture and situation, ensuring every encounter is challenging, refreshing and fun for new and veteran players alike. INCLUSIVITY: In a world filled with vitriol and division, TTRPGs stand as a beacon celebrating diversity and promoting collaboration. I have zero tolerance for toxic behavior that undermines the safe and inclusive environment of our table. Remember, this is, above all, a game.
