About Tad Tobey

It all began 5 years ago with my first Dungeon World session. Dedededit the Stuttering Bard and his quest to find those that cursed him. As that game progressed and the story developed so too did my love for TTRPGS. Beyond the world of TTRPGs, I'm an actor, published poet and amateur artist. This helps me bring the worlds WE'VE created to life with interesting NPCs, rich texts, and illuminating illustrations. I specialize in Dungeon World, where the collaborative storytelling is lively. I've GM'ed both serious hard fantasy campaigns and more comical goofball adventures. The most successful campaigns I've run begin with a foundation of questions to my players about their characters. What are their relationships to each other and the world they inhabit? What drives them to leave their quiet and tranquil villages in search of something more? A campaign should be about what your character wants, I'm simply pointing the way.

How Tad Tobey runs games

I am a roleplay heavy GM. I like to ask my players lots of questions about there characters to help flush out the world and then color in the world with these details. I work to describe my scenes with every sense: what does this dungeon smell like, what can be heard in this forest, how thick is the air on this planet. With my NPCs, I like to give each one their own cadence and dialect to the best of my ability. I can do a variety of accents from all over the world with years my years of training as an actor. I hope to bring each character you meet in your adventures to life. As far as combat, I like each combat to feel different and deadly. I want there to be tension. I want there to be cost. And Ideally I'd like my players to have to think on their feet about how to combat their foes. There are a couple meat bags occasionally for when my heroes need a pick me up and just want to crush somebody.
