About me
I have been organizing home, community, and virtual games for adults and children since 2016. In addition to special events like terrain building and mini painting work-shops, I work with our local library to coordinate D&D tables for their annual comic-con. In 2019 I co-hosted a Dungeons and Dragons themed dining experience with Cafe Bruges, a local Belgian restaurant, which included game masters from around the region. Introducing players to D&D and helping community members find new friends to play with has been uniquely rewarding. I love this fracking game!
GM Style
Theater of the mind is my preferred play-style for online games. For home or in-person, I'm all about DIY terrain and hand-painted miniatures. I like battlemap play so long as it doesn't interfere with the experience of adventure. I lean towards collaborative stories over combat and tactics, but I enjoy both and always seek to balance them and keep things moving.

I've played D and D with Duane for over a year. However, I have played D and D off and on since the 1980's and have run and been a pc in many different campaigns. Duane is a talented DM with an active imagination. He creates dynamic worlds that appeal to the divergent interests of his player. He places a strong emphasis on role playing and actively encourages players to fully explore that aspect of the game. What I like best about Duane is his creativity. Since I began playing with him, he has introduced me to many new experiences which have broadened my enjoyment of the game. I always look forward to playing in games run by Duane.
Duane is very good at creating a temporary realm with layers and depth that pull you in and hold you tight. The mix of fiction and reality were always the best part of our quests. Duane has a passion for making sure that his quests have detail from beginning to end and the he encounters something unexpected you would never know because he is a DM that is prepared for various scenarios as various players add to the campaign that he created. He is my first and favorite DM and if I ever get the chance I will try to create a world like he does.
Duane has led us through many harrowing adventures for a number of years. Whether it is a one shot or a long campaign, he is meticulous in his preparations. He has pitted us against many fiends. We have battled in the published adventures against Straud in Barovia, and have wandered through his own realms aboard the "Voltus Borg" ( a true air-ship ), battling dragons, were-creatures and doing our best to save the world ! Duane always leaves our party pumped up and impatient for the next session!
I work at a local public library as a programmer and on multiple occasions Duane has helped us run Dungeons and Dragons sessions for events and special occasions. Each year we do a comic con and Duane is our GM, as part of the comic con he developed a special scenario that would appeal to beginners and seasoned players alike. This is always a big hit that draws a crowd, not only for players, but for spectators. I highly recommend Duane as a GM!
Duane has a solid command over both the game mechanics and narrative aspects required of a quality Dungeon Master. He does a great job managing players and keeping everyone at the table attentive and involved. Though always prepared for a session, he isn’t intimidated by player actions that take the adventure “off script” and he has always impressed me with his ability to respond to unexpected player actions with clever improvisation “on the fly.” I highly recommend Duane as a GM!
Duane has a deep interest in keeping the game alive. He organizes local events to expose people to D&D and even has his daughters involved in DMing for kid's games. His games are based around the enjoyment of his players. He is an excellent addition to any D&D community and you should look forward to him joining yours.
