About james

I have been running games for over 25 years, and I still get a thrill every time the dice hit the table. My passion is crafting immersive, story-driven adventures that adapt to the players at my table—whether it’s a one-on-one deep dive into a character’s past or a ten-person chaos-fueled run through the undercity. I love blending cinematic storytelling, high-stakes roleplay, and tactical combat to keep every session alive and unpredictable. My games run anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, each tailored to the group’s energy and playstyle. I take pride in making the game accessible—whether you’re a seasoned veteran or brand new to tabletop RPGs, I’ll guide you through the mechanics and the world so you can focus on what really matters: living the story. My philosophy’s simple: You can try anything—but everything has consequences. The world reacts to your choices, rewards creativity, and never pulls its punches. I build worlds where your actions shape the narrative, the soundtrack drives the emotion, and the only real limit is how bold you’re willing to be. If you’re ready for an experience that’s equal parts story, strategy, and cinematic chaos, pull up a chair. Let’s roll some dice.

I got started GMing...

As a way to let my creativity live. I have a need to create as an outlet and When I discovered Dungeon and dragons, that was the perfect outlet.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Dungeon and dragons (i prefer 3e but would be fine with 5e), Palladium superheroes (i love superheroes and it was a fun system), Cyberpunk (i like the world of Shadowrun better but cyberpunk red is easier to run)

When I'm not running games I'm...

Watching movies or tv shows for ideas. I love borrowing from other works of fiction as inspiration. I once was running my children and as they watched peter pan i decided that was an amazing inspiration and had fight pirates and fairies on pirate island

How james runs games

Bringing Worlds to Life—Your Story, Your Choices I craft living, breathing worlds where your choices drive the story. Every encounter—whether battling a rising threat, uncovering hidden secrets, or deciding to walk away from danger—is shaped by you. I don’t dictate the adventure. I present possibilities. Evil stirs, mysteries unravel, and the world reacts to every decision you make. Storylines emerge organically, and you’re free to follow them—or blaze your own trail. My role is to create a rich, immersive environment where exploration, roleplay, and strategy all come alive. The world moves around you, adapting to your actions, making every session feel dynamic, unpredictable, and utterly yours. This is player-driven storytelling at its finest—a space where your imagination shapes the adventure, and the story evolves through your decisions. The narrative isn’t just mine—it’s yours to command.

My games focus on...

Fun for the party. I create a main story but design the next session based off of this session. Stole from that shop keep well he was secretly a mob boss and he's now got a hit on you.

Rules are...

Great for what they are. If the rules says one thing that's what I try to do but in the moment I might make a ruling that is different just to keep the game moving then after session we figure it out properly and next time try to play it proper.

When it comes to voices

I'll be honest, I don't do voices but I do describe how they sound so you understand. I wish I did do voices but that's not my skill.

james's ideal table

At my table I love when my players have fun.

I think min/maxing...

Is fun and I encourage it if that's your character but only if that's what you find fun. At my table there is always a weak spot so don't stress on the best character build. Its about fun and adventure.

My perfect party mix is

No such thing. I design my game around my players, you don't have a cleric? That's fine I'll drop health potions. A party of wizards? That sounds like fun. Assasins trying to kill the king? Oooh that's cool.

My table is not the place for...

NSFW. I run a safe table where young and old can sit with me so I am not a fan of "adult" behavior. The odd joke is fine but a line is a line.
