About me
Everyone is welcome at the table! Kindness and compassion and respect towards all fellow human beings is the Number ONE rule. I've been playing D&D for about 4 years. I've been a Dungeon Master for about 2 years. My main focus is to tell a collaborative story with my players. Everyone has some story they want their characters to tell, and I want to facilitate and environment to allow them to tell that story. I'm one of the hosts on the Make It Playable Podcast: https://linktr.ee/MIPlayable I run the homebrew-ish world of Licyria on our Persistent D&D Campaign on Twitch: www.twitch.tv/miplayable I'm not good at making up city or npc names. And Licyria is mainly an experimental mash up of a bunch of different worlds put together into one World. I create D&D Characters live on Twitch: www.twitch.tv/miplayable Critically Random is a show where generate a random Race, Background, Level & Class/Classes, then create a backstory and optimize the character build. You can find me on Twitter, @ttiger077 or @MIPlayable I hope we can build something fun and exciting together!
GM Style
I like players who are involved with developing their characters and roleplaying. I usually build my adventures around the characters backstories and adjust the course of the adventure depending on the choices the players make. I enjoy planning great story arches, but am understanding when the characters choose to do something different. Combat is just another part of telling the story. It is an important pillar in D&D, but should feel like a scene in a movie. It should help progress a storyline, not be thrown in randomly to appease the player that is just there to slay. There are plenty of one-shots and dungeon crawl experiences for that, and most of the games I run aren't those experiences. Not to say I'm unwilling to run those types of games. I have put together several dungeon crawl one-shots, and very much enjoyed running those games. I'm not very good at jumping from voice to voice. I try my best to do a little bit of voice acting, but if it's taking away from the experience of the story, I tend to abandon it so I can get the story elements to my players. There's also no guarantee I will be able to replicate a voice from a random NPC I throw at the players, if they want to return to that character. I try my best, but voice acting an amazing talent that I haven't developed over the years. I try to stick to the Rules-as-Written as much as possible. But I also take into consideration the Rule-of-Cool. That being said, there will be no "forcing a king to give up his kingdom" on a Natural 20, nor will a character be able to lift an entire building on a Natural 20. A Natural 20 only goes so far, and sometimes I will ask my players to give me a total number, even if it's a Natural 20. I also don't shy away from psychological experiences that characters may have on their adventures, not experiences that would be common within a fantasy world that isn't fully developed. It's a tough world out there, and I tend to like to shine light on that fact, and I try to encourage my players to try an make a difference in the world based on their experiences. If my players encounter a group of slavers and corruption within the local government, what are they going to do about it? I tend to encourage my characters to make a bigger impact on the world than just that farmer they saved from a wild pack of wolves. What impact are your characters actually going to have on the world around them?
