About Chester
D&D has always been a part of my life. From when I was 9 making up rules as I play around with pieces of multiple game boards - to now, as I look upon a shelf in my room filled exclusively with tabletop games, dice, and my favorite minifigs. I seriously started doing D&D back in 2017, and almost a full decade later I can tell you with certainty that nothing in this world gives me more joy than tabletop roleplaying. It's an integral part of who I am now, and it has helped me keep friendships that I hope will last me a lifetime. I practically began my experience with D&D as an impromptu dungeon master, quickly throwing together a one-shot for a college D&D club that didn't have enough DMs was my trial by fire. But looking back I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. I thrive in circumstances where I both have something planned, and can at the drop of a hat venture into something I'll have to entirely make up along the way. I hope you'll join me, as I've made it my mission to spread the joy that I feel while playing TTRPGs to everyone and anyone who wants to be at my table.

How Chester runs games
I've always believed that the best stories a DM can tell are never ones that they are solely the author of. Crafting a masterpiece of a story all on your own is no small feat for sure, but creating one with other people in the moment? THAT is what being a DM is all about. Collaborative storytelling, THAT is what you can expect with me as your DM. Whatever tale you're hoping to tell in our sessions with your character is not only going to get it's own time to shine; it'll be an integral part of the story. As such of course, roleplay is a HEAVY focus of mine, but that doesn't mean that it'll be all speech checks and rolls to seduce. I pride myself on my storytelling - both collaborative and otherwise - but D&D is also a game, with mechanics, and mechanics left to collect dust are mechanics wasted. So expect roleplay, but also expect to play a good game as well! That being said, I've certainly always been more of a "rule of cool" kind of guy! Mechanics are mechanics and rules exist for a reason in a game, but sometimes you just gotta ignore those to tell the story you really want to tell!
