About me

The first time I played Dungeons & Dragons, I played a first level bard in 3.5e. No one told me which stats were useful upon character creation, and I definitely didn't allocate mine wisely. I landed about two hits in the whole dungeon and used most of my turn economy force feeding my allies potions, the most useful thing I could do... and I fell in love with the game. I'm also obsessed with video game music, and tend to orchestrate my games extensively!

GM Style

I am a firm believer in allowing the players to be in the driver's seat. I love allowing as open world an approach as possible -- I think that helps the players believe in the world and interact with it in surprising ways. I believe a good game should feel like all of the content was already there, whether the PCs were going to find it or not. I think part of the wonders of D&D is discovering new things and places, and I try to make that as wondrous as possible, balancing combat with puzzles, environmental hazards, and social encounters. I have experience in Pathfinder Editions 1 and 2, expertise I bring to my table when I DM 5e. Sometimes I'll patch in mechanics from previous editions and Pathfinder to fill in the gaps where 5e is lacking, like the 1-2-1 rule for diagonal movement, which makes gridded combat more intuitive in close quarters and allows for a lot more creative combat. I always DM with the core experience in mind, which may be different at every table and every game. At the end of the day, communication is king for me. I make every effort to lay out the rules and policies of my table upfront, and communicate with the players about what kind of game they're trying to play. Most issues with D&D play can be solved via communication, so I foster those channels to the best of my ability.
