About me

Hello and welcome! My name is Andre and I have been a GM for the past 10 years. I am a math teacher professionally and I take my style of inquiry based learning and use that same method in my D&D games. I give a lot of player agency and act more as a facilitator instead of doing most of the talking. I also enjoy customizing the game, characters and world around my players decisions and backstories. I believe in immersion whether in person or online and can usually be seen using handouts, maps, notes, music, etc. Whatever it takes to set the mood as this maximizes engagement! My preference of play is 50% roleplay, 25% combat and 25% exploration. I tend to have a good knowledge of the rules of any game that I am in but also will follow "rule of cool " every now and then. I will not hold anybody's hand or tell anyone "no" but instead will say "Yes, however....". I encourage my players to think outside the box when coming across an encounter (as some you can beat just by roleplaying), and to be very specific in what you are looking for (saying I'm searching the door for any cracks or weaknesses vs. I'm searching the room). Players who think you can just burst down every door and kill every monster will find it very hard in my games and will not last long. Personality wise, I'm down-to earth, love to laugh and enjoy supporting players through my campaigns, but will not pull a punch if encounters arise. Of the character deaths that have happened in my games, all of my players thought it was justified and not me as a GM trying to kill them to exert power. All in all, this is about having fun and I ensure to do my best to make sure all of my players are doing exactly that.
