About the adventure

Welcome new and experienced players alike to Adventures with the Blue Collar DM! In this adventure, players will learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons via a combo of official D&D adventures taking place in the same area of the Forgotten Realms!: The Lost Mines of Phandelver and The Dragon of Icespire Peak! Set in the town of Phandalin in the Sword Coast region of the Forgotten Realms, you and a group of adventures are employed by Gundren Rockseeker to escort a wagon of supplies to Phandalin. The Dwarven man claims he has found "something big" in the foothills near this upstart town, although he isn't the only one interested in the secrets of Phandalin. Along with the dragon who has taken up residence in Icespire Peak, there is plenty for the adventurers to sink their teeth into in the town of Phandalin! Join the campaign and find out for yourselves! Game sessions will run approximately 1.5-2 hours depending on story progression and session flow. Players can expect milestone level advancement. **This is an introductory campaign for new players to learn the D&D 5e system. Experienced players are encouraged to join, but understand that common rules and mechanics will be taught throughout play. In addition, this campaign will be run in the spirit of the original adventures.**

Additional Details

How to prepare

At minimum, the players will need a webcam and a mic. Rules will be explained through play. Characters will either be chosen at the session or prepared in consult with the Blue Collar Dungeon Master. Players will need to download ZeroTier if they want to interact with the virtual tabletop directly (instructions will be provided/walkedthrough at session 0). Internet connection with a relatively modern computer capable of running both Discord, Zoom, and a web browser such as Google Chrome required. Dice will be rolled virtually via Foundry VTT (we will go over at the start of session 0) either via DNDBeyond integration (if unable to download ZeroTier) or on Foundry itself. A print out of the sheet is not necessary as it will be stored in both DNDBeyond and Foundry but is encouraged. Game can also be screen shared on zoom for those not wishing to use Foundry VTT. Players will need to have Discord & Zoom installed either on a device cable of performing voice and video capabilities for the session. Video call will be handled in Zoom.

What I provide

The Blue Collar Dungeon Master will provide the game interface being Foundry VTT, the ZeroTier network ID's for the session and instructions to download, and DND Beyond Content for character creation

Gameplay details

Players can expect a relaxed play environment with a focus on gradually learning rules through play as opposed to having to do any "homework" prior to the session. The game will employ safety tools like the XNO cards and a Digital RPG Consent list to ensure no boundaries are crossed. Players can expect the game would be rated PG13 as far as content goes.
