The Blood Tax | 5e Homebrew Gothic Film Noir | Wednesdays 3pm Pacific The stars and starlets of Tithe find themselves in a unique position of power. After the fall of Duchy Fallowick and House Ilassar gaining their claim over the Regency, the nation is left without a capital, and in attempts to present themselves as a welcoming and robust focal point of Cormorair, the city of Tithe ends up with many a rambunctious underbelly, of prohibitionist movements that attempt to reform the growing negative reputation, as well as a combative series of hidden speakeasys, hole-in-the-wall fighting rings, and of course everyone's favourite jazz, opera, and theatre clubs. In the chaos, a number of celebrities emerge, but none more so than the Varim family, with their unblemished beauty and ineffable charm. Often referred to as the Porcelain Imitation, this family has a knack for skirting the line between legality and debauchery.

How to prepare

Stable, reliable internet connection and audio quality required. Video preferred but totally optional. We will be using D&DBeyond for character sheets, and Discord for voice, video, campaign tracking, and battlemaps.

What I provide

I have access to all official content on D&DBeyond as well as animated battle maps which we will be using via a screensharing VTT method. I prefer this approach as I feel it best emulates an at-the-table feel and reduces the amount of tabs and things for people to keep track of!

Gameplay details

Session Zero allows the players to take the floor, ask questions about the setting, make requests for content they would (or would not) like to see. We will get you oriented with the Also Dragons server, discuss house rules and general community dynamic, and go through content-consent checklists to gauge levels of comfortability with subject matter that may (but will likely not) arise.

How will character creation work

Characters will start at 3rd level, in call, to allow for discussion of potential backstory connections and to allow consistency with the rest of the party. Nothing worse than a player making a character they are passionate about only to find that it's not a good fit for the setting or the party! There are some other details around equipment and house rules that will be elaborated on in Session Zero and may inform some player choices!

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
