About the adventure
You are a brave little mouse, ready to explore the wilderness beyond your village in search of treasure! Mausritter is a delightful role-playing game about mice who venture into termite-ridden trees, caverns beneath dried-out ponds, and abandoned garden sheds to save their fellow mice and find shiny loot! In our first session, I'll teach you all you need to know about how to play the game. Then, after the opening adventure, you'll explore a vast, desert wilderness loaded with secrets to find, villains to defeat, and competing factions to befriend (or not!). In this world, water is scarce and some say coyotes prowl in the darkness. What will you do to bring harmony to the creatures of this unforgiving desert? If you like Dungeons & Dragons but wish you could spend more time adventuring rather than staring at your character sheet, you'll love Mausritter. This game is light on rules, which means we can focus on the exciting parts of role-playing games, like slaying giant spiders and making choices that affect the game world! While this game is a great entry point to role-playing games for families and kids, it's also a great way for experienced gamers to experience a different style of play. Our campaign will emphasize player agency, exploration, and meaningful role-playing. This is your adventure! I want you to be the one to lead it!

How to prepare
Players don't need any prior knowledge of Mausritter to enjoy this game. All the game rules will be taught during session 0. I will also provide handy rule sheets for players to reference during the game. That said, here's how you can best prepare for this game: - Have a reliable webcam and microphone ready - Create a free Discord account for voice/video chat - Create a free account on www.forge-vtt.com so that you can join the VTT game online - No dice or printed character sheet are needed, but you are welcome to bring them if you'd like!

Gameplay details
Players can expect fast-paced combat and a rules-light gaming experience. Character death happens more frequently in old-school style games like Mausritter, so it's important that players are able to find fun in the failures as well as the successes of their characters. In my experience, the higher stakes make the victories much more sweet. My goal as a game master is to create a safe, comfortable space for my players to express themselves in fun and imaginative ways. Honest communication is crucial in how we cultivate that space, so I reach out to each of my players prior to session 0 to establish our expectations, hopes, and boundaries for the game. Here's what you can expect when you sign up for my game: - Prior to session 0, I will send you a link to a brief survey that will ask you about your expectations for the game and what content you'd like to avoid in our sessions together. - During session 0, I will summarize your responses from the survey to ensure every player understands the parameters of healthy and respectful play - During every session, your mental and physical health is most important to me. If you feel uncomfortable at any point during play, I encourage you to care for yourself in whatever way you need. If you need to take a break from the game, that is absolutely okay. - At the end of our sessions, I will check in with the players to hear (1) how they feel after what happened in the session, (2) their Stars and Wishes for the game. - At any point during our partnership, I welcome your concerns, questions, and feedback.

How will character creation work
Characters will be created during session 0 according to the character creation rules listed in the Mausritter Rulebook. Character creation is fast, fun, and random in Mausritter, but you'll fall in love with your mouse in no time.
