About the adventure

It's 2045, do you know where your armorjack is? For nearly thirty years, the megacorporations had free reign in North America as the governments abdicated their responsibility to protect their citizens' liberties and lives. The difference between the haves and the have-nots grew exponentially, with corporate managers living in fortified enclaves of luxury while everyone else lived in the dying remains of cities. Entire cities burned or sank; some even managed to do both simultaneously. Ecological damage from centuries of abuse turned agricultural abundance into vast tracks of dust bowl, creating even more refugees to flood into the dying cities. Eventually, though the 4th Corporate War brought everything crashing down, even the world's most protected trillionaires were left exposed and impoverished. Emergency measures to save the Net from being a battleground proxy crashed the superhighway and turned it into a virtual apocalyptic landscape, where deranged Ais hunt any and all traffic that dares to venture the old data lines. This is how the world of Cyberpunk 2020 ended. In the decades since chrome has been replaced by rust. Violence still rules the streets, and megacorporations are once again trying to consolidate power. In this chaos, you and your teammates work as edgerunners, those who operate on the edge of society, fighting clandestine battles on the edge of the law for the shadowy forces that vis for control of Night City, the country, and the world. Cyberpunk Red is the update to the Classic Roleplaying game of the dark future. Streamlined rules for combat at the Net keep the flavor of the original while accelerating the action. Explore Night City playing one of ten types of character, each with a unique signature skill and different ways to 'win' in the dystopian future.

How to prepare

You can download the free 'Easy Mode' rules from DrivethruRPG, but no homework is required to join the game. You will need either a PC or Mac-compatible PC with broadband internet access and electricity to play in this game; a mouse with left and right buttons, as well as a third button and mouse wheel is optimal for online use of Foundry VTT. You will need a Discord account to access the game chat. The Foundry VTT runs on a modern web browser, so there is nothing to install if you have a browser on your computer. If you have an older computer, you might consider using the Foundry Lightweight Client, which is a free lightweight web browser that gives you the most bang for your machine's capabilities. You can get it for free here: https://flc.ruleplaying.com/ If you intend to speak in the voice channel on Discord, you should have a headset with a microphone. *You will be required to set up a push-to-talk button*; you are, however, free to communicate to the group using text only in Discord, but you will then need speakers to hear their chat and the game sounds. Special text-only sessions are available for the deaf and hard of hearing. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you'd like to schedule one. Bringing a friend or two would help ensure we don't need to recruit additional players. While text-only is actually my preferred method of play, it does seem difficult to organize those games. Instructions for setting up the push-to-talk button and installing all the needed software are available on my Discord channel (#getting-started), to which you will be supplied a link when you join.

What I provide

The ruleset and adventures we’ll be using plus an extensive knowledge of the game world. I pay for all the licenses for the software used in the campaign, so you wont have any additional costs besides the session fees.

Gameplay details

You can expect fast action, creative mysteries, in the flavor of the Cyberpunk movies and blockbuster video game Cyberpunk 2077. This campaign features adult content you would expect in an R-rated movie. We will use Yellow and Red cards to indicate if the situation has become too intense for a player and will have a debrief/aftercare session at the end of each session, but players should be warned that this world is a rough place.

How will character creation work

We will be making characters together in session zero using the standard rules for Cyberpunk Red. Characters can also be made using the official companion app available for cell phones and tablets from RTG.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
