About the adventure

"The small seaside town of Otari is known for its fresh fish and skilled sailors, but above all, it’s a big logging town, providing valuable wood to the nearby metropolis of Absalom. But for you, Otari is home. You grew up playing on the docks, getting lost in the nearby woods, and hearing the fantastical stories of travelers from faraway lands, tales of terrifying dragons and virtuous knights. Such adventure always seemed so distant—until today!" A mysterious danger is brewing under the small seaside town of Otari, unbeknownst to any. A small band of would-be heroes could be the town's sole salvation. Will you stand up to the task and start your path in becoming a hero of your own tale? Join me and other similar minded players to gather around this game where you get to learn to play Pathfinder 2E and have some good old tabletop fun. So you've decided to start playing Pathfinder 2E and are looking for your first game. "Menace Under Otari" is the officially published adventure by Paizo included in the Beginner's Box, praised by many to be a very well designed introductory pack to a tabletop game and a personal favorite way of mine to introduce new players to the game. It's quirky, but at the same time preserves the classic fantasy role play vibe while making sure it takes you through different types of encounters that will teach you various concepts of the game. I have run this module many times and still enjoy running it as every time I run, something new happens because of player decisions. This is an instant booking game but there is one basic thing I ask of you in order for everyone at the table to have fun and feel comfortable: Please read below and only signup if you think you are a fit: - You've checked my GM Profile and learned a bit about me and my GMing style. - You are willing to own an entire character to role-play as and think about their background, their choices and their emotions. - You are willing to read, watch, research the rules of the game and how your character and their abilities work. This is a learn-to-play adventure but you need to be informed of the theory before going into applied learning. - You are respecting other players and the game master and maintaining gaming and social etiquette. (Not interrupting, giving space and time for everyone to learn.) - You don't perform homophobia, transphobia, racism, xenophobia or any other bigot-like behaviour that discriminates, mocks or demeans any identity. - You are mentally prepared to be in the game, to collaborate with others, winning or losing, having fun either way. Paying attention to what happens in the game. Being able to attend most (if not all) of the scheduled games. - You have access to a fast and reliable internet connection, a working mic, a non-noisy environment to play, a computer with enough power to run Foundry. I hope you can trust me to take you to this wondrous journey. Looking forward to meeting you and your character !

How to prepare

A - You need a computer with following: 1 - working mic and sound device (preferably a headphone) connected to your computer. 2 - either Chrome or Firefox to run Foundry VTT application (you don't need to buy or download anything beforehand). 3 - An account at Forge-vtt.com so that I can invite you to Foundry VTT server. (it's really easy to create one. 4 - a fast and reliable internet connection 5 - a Discord account and a working Discord application (either desktop or web) B - Please make sure you are in a non-noisy environment and you won't be interrupted during the game session. (Excluding special needs and a 10-min break in the middle of the session) C - Create your character as per the character creation information and have an art ready and send me 24h before session 1. I will create a game token off the art and you don't need to do that. I prefer full body art rather than close-up portraits just because it's what I use for most of the characters in game but whatever pleases you is fine. You would make me really happy if you can find high resolution art that fit the general theme of Pathfinder 2E.

What I provide

I bring my online Foundry VTT server running on Forge, so you can access it anytime during or in between sessions. I will create your character tokens based off art you find for your character. Everything else (maps, monster tokens, audio, etc.) are already inside the game server ready for play.

Gameplay details

Lines and Veils document will be sent as a link, detailing what I as a GM will consider and respect but also ask you to do the same. In session 0, I will talk about the general design philosophy of Pathfinder 2e, some of the core rule explanation (this will include some of the most essential differences from the very popular D&D 5E system if there are players coming from that system), my GM'ing style and finally we will go over each of your characters and agree upon how they are connected to each other. I have included the X-card as a module into Foundry VTT and a player can click that icon when they are not comfortable about the current scene. My aftercare is, I ask each player after the session privately if they enjoyed the session; if there are any thing they would like to express about the session and whether they have any feedback. They can also let me know if they want their feedback to be discussed in the group and we can decide to do so in between sessions if necessary.

How will character creation work

Characters start at level 1 with default Pathfinder 2e creation rules (you will level up once to level 2 in the game). When creating characters you can use any content published by Paizo for Pathfinder 2e only. You can use uncommon/rare elements for the character creation with the exception for items and spells (those are common only). I expect you to create your characters before the session 0 so we can talk about them. They don't have to be fully fleshed out and I will answer any questions you might have. I also allow my players to respec/remake their characters in between sessions just because this is a learn to play game.
