About the adventure

Once an ennead, the Earthspur Mines are home to a competition between many dwarves. Each clan sends its best and brightest crafter to compete in a test of endurance and skill. Unfortunately for Riswynn Rumnaheim, her clan has died out. With no one to watch her back, she has placed a call for adventurers, and you have answered! *Hammer & Anvil* is a 3-4 hour adventure for characters of 3rd level. Designed by Darion Smith, it features role-playing, exploration, and challenging combat!

How to prepare

Players will need a microphone and headset, a Roll20 account, and a Discord user account. I recommend installing the Discord app for a smoother experience. During the game session, players can use Roll20's virtual rollers. They are also more than welcome to use their own physical dice. If players have access to the Google Chrome browser, they might optionally install the Beyond 20 extension to enable a connection between their D&D Beyond character sheet and the Roll20 virtual tabletop.

What I provide

I will be providing virtual tabletop maps, story illustrations, and full D&D Compendium access on both Roll20 and D&D Beyond. That's right, full character creation options!

Gameplay details

Establishing safety tools happens at the start of the session in dedicated Discord channels. Lines and Veils will be written to establish and handle boundaries. It is my priority that everyone feels supported, respected, and safe. As a general Code of Conduct, • Harassment of any sort is neither accepted nor tolerated. • Players being rude, disruptive, or abusive will be removed from the session.

How will character creation work

Character creation should be done before the game on D&D Beyond (DDB). A link to the DDB character builder with access to all sourcebooks will be provided during sign-up. Players are also free to use a pre-generated character provided by the GM. Use the character creation rules as presented in the Player's Handbook (PH), with the following notes. For this adventure, you start at 3rd level. When you level up, take average hit points. No rolling for any stats. STEP 1. CHOOSE A RACE or LINEAGE STEP 2. CHOOSE A CLASS STEP 3. DETERMINE ABILITY SCORES Your character’s ability scores are generated using one of the following methods: • Standard set (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) • 27-Point Buy (See "Customizing Ability Scores", PH page 13). STEP 4. DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTER Alignment. Choose a non-evil alignment. Background. You can create a custom background or use any available background as presented. Deities. You may choose any deity to worship that is unique to the Forgotten Realms or is not unique to another world. Clerics must choose a deity. STEP 5. CHOOSE EQUIPMENT Your starting equipment and gold are determined by your class and background; you don’t roll for gold. You may start with a trinket of your choice from the available rules choices. You can sell starting equipment using the rules in the PH and can buy equipment and spell components found in the PH or available rules choices. WHICH RULEBOOKS TO USE? You can use non-optional rules found in the Player's Handbook, the Basic Rules, and all the books listed below. If a rule has been reprinted in a newer resource, you must always use the latest printing. • Fizban's Treasury of Dragons (FTD) • Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse (MPMM) • Spelljammer: Adventures in Space (SAS) • Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide (SCAG) • Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (TCE) • Xanathar's Guide to Everything (XGE) You may also use the rules found in the following digital publications: • Elemental Evil Player's Companion (EEPC) • Locathah Rising (LR) Additionally, the following variant or optional rules are available: • Chapter 6: Customization Options (PH) • Customizing Your Origin (TCE) • Half-Elf and Tiefling Variants (SCAG) • Option: Human Languages (SCAG) • Optional Class Features (TCE) • Variant Human Traits (PH)
