About the adventure

It has been nigh on a millennium since the Cataclysm, the day when the hubris of mortals brought doom to the world. A thousand years since mortals challenged the strength of the gods, seeking to take divinity for themselves and usher in a new golden age for Alterra. Instead they found only chaos and ruin, for the gods did not take kindly to this and decided to teach them a lesson in humility. As the mortal spellcasters and craftsmen activated the instrument of their ascension, existance as they knew it was unmade. The instrument malfunctioned and began to tear apart a sizable part of the continent, poisoning the inhabitants. Those that didn't die were disfigured and changed for the worse. This shockwave of arcane energy was stronger than what even the gods themselves foresaw, tearing rifts into other planes and allowing wild magics to take root in the material plane. After many years, new races and species of being began to appear, influenced by these magics. Now, many centuries later, the magics are still flowing throughout the land, serving as a thrumming lifeforce for Alterra that many individuals can channel and have devoted their lives to studying. Kingdoms have risen an fallen over the years, but three have managed to form and retain some semblance of control. The Brinnborn Empire to the south, the Kingdom of Althrek, and the independent Isle of Sands. As political tensions rise across the borders of Alterra between the Empire and Althrek, many of the stranger occurrences throughout the land have been going unnoticed by the crown of either side. Whispers of something malevolent creeping into this world, an unsettling breeze on the wind, a waft of decay on the air. All heralds of something vast, evil, and foreboding lurking just out of reach...

Gameplay details

Things in this game will be heavily embellished and stylized, especially the violence, monsters, and some horror aspects. This is all to help drive the story and make scenes memorable. That being said, I don't wish to make anyone feel uncomfortable, and I want everyone at the table to have fun and have a good time. This is mean to be an inclusive and accepting table and a safe space for all. I have an open door policy, so if something or someone is making you uncomfortable or upset, feel free to message me, even mid-game and we'll get everything sorted out.
