About the adventure

"The High Plain of Heaven has remained unbalanced ever since its Queen abandoned her people, but the celestial isles now face a greater threat. Whilst the lands have remained in relative peace for centuries, the populace now faces a great upheaval. Ancient monsters, once sealed away by the valiant heroes of a forgotten age, now stalk the wilds beyond the safety of the settlements in which the populace congregate. The terrain and weather themselves have become violent, natural disasters now a common facet of life. But, as an old prophecy once foretold, in the most desperate of times a group of champions would emerge from the shadows to put an end to the chaos. Will you accept your accursed ordeal? To be bound to this wretched prophecy that promises only toil and hardship... Some say it is a fate worse than death, but death is the only other option." "A Cursed Invitation" is a Dungeons & Dragons: 5e adventure for four to six 1st-18th level characters by TheBipolarDiceroller. This campaign delves into the mythos and legend of ancient Japanese folklore and uses those ancient tales to tell a unique story of its own design. The characters are perceived as the destined few who have the potential to fulfil a forgotten prophecy by putting an end to the mystical chaos that has spoiled the fantastical isles of the High Plain of Heaven.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Video is not required but also not discouraged. All players require a microphone to participate in sessions, preferably one of ample quality. Rules research is not required but encouraged (you will need to know enough to be capable of creating a character). I frequently make myself available to discuss rules and assist with learning. You must have a browser installed capable of accessing the Forge (a Foundry Cloud Hosting Site) and a device capable of running the VTT. Lastly, Discord will be utilised as vehicle of communication as well as our music hosting service.

What I provide

I will provide players with a fully outfitted adventure module with which to play the campaign on. This includes, but is not limited to the following; High Resolution Visual Resources and Effects, Automated Character and NPC Actors, Atmospheric Sound Cues and Adventure Resource Storage.

Gameplay details

I typically run my games using the rules as prescribed, but if an obvious discrepancy or interesting oppurtunity arises, the exact ruling may be relaxed to compensate. I pride myself on constructing a in depth and dynamic narrative for my players, one which revolves around and is directly influenced by their decisions. Therefore, inter character roleplay is encouraged at my tables, and individualism is discouraged (unless it makes narrative sense and doesn't significantly exclude others from play).

How will character creation work

Characters must be prepared before the session takes place. Typically we will hold a session 0/1 in which everyone will put their characters together, enquire about specifics and conclude their concepts. I typically available at most hours of the day to discuss character creation (amongst other concerns) via my Discord server.
