About the adventure

After a long journey, you've arrived in Arcanos, the worst place in the world. Here, you'll delve into unhallowed tombs and twisted forests, dens of sin and houses of murder, seeking fame, fortune, and forgotten secrets. Maybe you'll even do some good, if you can live long enough. --- In Darkest Quest you play as heroes in a terrifying world, fighting evil as it encroaches from all sides. If you are new to Quest or TTRPGs, welcome! I will be happy to teach you. If you are a long-time player, that also great! The game is suitable for people of any skill level, and we use safety tools to keep everyone having a great time. The game is LGBTQ-friendly, and we won't accept bigotry at the table. --- Take advantage of the RECRUIT-A-FRIEND program. When you bring a new person to the game, their fist session will be is free, and you will get a random magic cypher treasure. Just mention you are recruiting a friend, and your friend's name when you both register for a game. You can recruit one friend per game, but can recruit multiple friends over multiple sessions!

How to prepare

You will need Discord, a mic, a way to take notes, and a webcam is useful but not strictly necessary. We have a dice roller, but it's more fun to roll your own dice. You can prepare whatever else you like: costume, art, backstory, etc, but that is up to you. I will explain the rules at the start and give you a hand-out, but if you want to read the Quest rules ahead of time, you can do so at https://www.adventure.game/rules/

I will bring all the materials for us to play Quest.

Gameplay details

You will need: A pen & paper, a 20-sided die, and a heroic spirit! We'll be playing Quest RPG, a new system with quick combat and resolution. https://www.adventure.game/about 1) RP. You can play your character as a unique individual or an extension of yourself, whichever works for you. I will adapt to what the majority of players are doing. 2) Combat. The world is full of monsters intent on ending your life, and if you do not defend yourselves, you will perish. Combat is quick, and may use simple maps, but grid combat is not required. 3) Puzzles. There will always be some mystery, and the story will progress regardless of whether you solve it or not... 4) Experience. No experience is necessary. I'll run through the system at the top of each session, and it doesn't take long. Maximum 20 minutes to explain the rules. I'll also give you a cheat sheet with everything you need to know in a pinch.

How will character creation work

You can create a character ahead of time by following the rules of Darkest Quest character creation, outlined in the document. You can either choose a pre-built Ability loadout, or hand-pick your own.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
