About the adventure

📖 Setting The Empyreum is a proud human military nation that holds the faith in the Light above all else. It is ruled by the Empress, whose family holds the throne for generations. The nation has neglected its border regions, leaving cities, towns and villages to fend for themselves. Such is the fate of Murkwater, a large fishing town situated in a small bay by the ocean. Like all towns on the fringes of the Empyreum, people here have learned to defend themselves at an early age. Murkwater was once a very busy port for shipping and trade, but with the deepening of a riverbed, trade shifted to different locations and Murkwater has been left to its slow decline. As threats loom over the town, a word of call to arms is spread, beckoning brave adventurers to take on odd jobs and help the people in these parts. You will play such an adventurer and venture forth into danger. 📖 A game grounded on the original Dungeons & Dragons rules. 👋 A welcoming environment for new and experienced players alike. ➡️ A straightforward and rules-light game that doesn't require you to know anything beforehand. 🐲 Adventuring, exploration, combat and roleplay that will keep you engaged and entertained.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Prepare your microphone, Internet connection, Web browser and Discord application. We will play on FoundryVTT which requires a laptop or a PC. There is no registration or download required, the game runs entirely in the Web browser. Webcams are optional. I will provide you with PDFs for the sheets so you can use them digitally or print and write on them physically.

What I provide

Maps, handouts, pre-generated characters, session notes, quest tracker and note sheets, Discord server, FoundryVTT, ambient music.

Gameplay details

The game is structured as a series of interconnected adventures in the same world. Session 0 includes introductions, game details, safety tools, adventure overview, FoundryVTT explanation, and character creation. Everyone is welcome to join, regardless if you are a new or experienced player. The game encourages and rewards creativity and imagination. There is a focus on adventuring and exploration, with combat and roleplay scenes also present. Cooperation and teamwork is vital to survival. Your characters are no heroes, they are people. Death is a common occurrence. You will experience tension, wonder and excitement from venturing into the unknown and facing danger. My goal is to give you the opportunity to explore, impact the world through your actions, and most importantly - to have fun.

How will character creation work

Characters start at level 1. We will create the characters in Session 0 or during the session. Creating a character is quick and simple with the help of rolling dice. You will have a main and a backup character. There will be a virtual character sheet in FoundryVTT, but I recommend you keep your own virtual or physical copy of the character sheet.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
