About the adventure

Welcome to the Nation of Geb. A land of undeath and necromancy, of scheming and slaughter. Located in the northern wastes of the Impossible Lands, Geb is ruled by an infrequently changing selection of 60 councilors, known as the Blood Lords. Working their way up from nothing, currying favor with those in power, and stabbing others in the back as needed, players will work to ascend their own power to become Blood Lords themselves, or fulfill other, darker ambitions. To help aid them in their quests, characters will have found the secrets of mysterious sets of equipment capable of drastically increasing their strengths: whether they look to collect said items, or forge them anew, is for them to decide.

How to prepare

Players will need access to Discord, internet, and a functioning microphone. Sessions will take place in a discord voice call, and will also utilize the in-server chatbox in Foundry to communicate. Cameras are entirely optional.

What I provide

I will provide a full discord server for the campaign, as well as a fleshed out gaming experience using the wealth of tools provided by Foundry VTT. A number of additional modules will be used to enhance player experience. Additionally, I can provide AI generated character artwork for players who do not have an image they are happy with for their character to use.

Gameplay details

All players are welcome at my table, regardless of experience level! Session 0 will go over peoples' lines and veils, and an open dialogue will be kept throughout gameplay. My goal is to ensure that players always feel comfortable in my games, and know that they can come speak with me if they have a problem or something they need to discuss. This is a campaign that supports characters who are lawful evil and adjacent in alignment, and while chaotic and good characters are not inherently bad for this game, keep in mind that they may be more challenging to play, and will have many struggles to overcome morally over the course of the game.

How will character creation work

Character creation will happen before session 0, preferably using pathbuilder. Characters begin at level 1, and all ancestries, classes, and backgrounds are open for use. This campaign will make use of both the free archetype and relic set variant rules as presented in the gamemastery guide and treasure vault books. Players are encouraged to play an undead, utilizing either the skeleton ancestry or one of the multiple undead archetypes available. Should a player wish to use an undead archetype, we will consider the character as that type of entity at level 1 for the sake of continuity. The player characters are all individuals who have spent a period of time within Geb, and in doing so have made contact with one of the major factions. Though each person may have a relationship with different factions, they have all at some point met and befriended Berline Haldoli - whether before or after she became a Blood Lord is up to them. Additionally, during their life or death, each of the player characters unearthed the beginning of a secret to a powerful set of equipment that seemed to suit them. By leveraging their friendship with Berline and the job she offers them, characters hope to complete their set of equipment and rise in power: whether they wish to become Blood Lords themselves, or harbor other plans, is up to them. The campaign will begin with the party arriving in the city of Greydirge at the behest of Berline, and all players are asked to include a general plan for their relic, and how they know Berline in their backstory. The relic set can be as varied as you would like, with some following examples should you need ideas: 'When you first rose as an undead, you had no memories of your life beforehand, as you went about your mindless undeath, you stumbled across a piece of equipment; as you held onto it, fragmented memories of your life and strength before death awoke within you, and you wish to regain such powers.' 'Before you were kicked out of school for your research into necromancy, you stumbled across a hidden tome, regaling you with tales of powerful mages of old. Notes within the pages pointed to the idea that each of these famed mages had wielded a set of equipment that boosted their power to unfathomable levels, and the last wielder had died whilst traveling through the nation of Geb. While you already planned to go there to further your studies, you also had clues to the whereabouts of this missing equipment.' 'When you awoke in your coffin, only the warm light of the last item you held in life permeated your surroundings. A long dormant trinket you had picked up ages ago and treasured, now activated by your death, and returned you to unlife. As you get used to your new situation, the trinket whispers tales of power into your mind, a series of brothers and sisters that, if united, would make the owner a conqueror.'
