About the adventure

There's a dragon in the woods. Those friendly dwarves were the first to go, the poor things. And now the beast has been killing and eating the people of Brandonsford. No one wants to leave the town's walls. With the humans out of the forest, fairies have taken over, and now the goblin king Hogboon seeks to claim the entire forest as his new kingdom. The Black Wyrm of Brandonsford is an old-school compatible module for characters level 1-3, in which they visit the colorful inhabitants of Brandonsford, adventure through the fairy-haunted woods outside the town, delve into two dungeon locations, and hopefully, slay a dragon. This game is beginner-friendly, although open to players of all experience levels. We will be playing an old-school version of Dungeons & Dragons, and knowing the rules is absolutely not necessary. Most of the mechanics will be - I describe the situation, you ask questions, tell me what you want to do, and I'll make a ruling, or roll dice if necessary. This game will be challenging and reward clever problem-solving.

Additional Details

How to prepare

No need to have read any rules or materials prior to playing, I will take care of all of that. Everyone should have a Discord account, as we will be using that for voice and video. I will provide a link to a server. I do ask that everyone has a microphone with a headset to prevent echo, as well as a functioning webcam. I will also provide a link to a Foundry VTT server with login details. Players will need a modern web browser to play, I find Chrome works best for me.

What I provide

I will be bringing digital maps, access to Foundry for die rolling, character sheets, tokens, and the like.

Gameplay details

I will supply a link to the VTT as well as a Discord server for voice. I have an X-Card plugin for Foundry VTT but am also happy if players wish to utilize a physical card held up to the camera, or just verbally invoke the X-Card's use. This is an Open Door game - if at any point you have to step out for any reason feel free to do so. I will also be scheduling hourly-ish breaks, although everyone is free to take breaks whenever they wish at their leisure.

How will character creation work

I will provide a number of pre-generated characters, but I will also walk players through character creation for either of the systems I am open to running for this adventure. Both have extremely quick character creation methods, and I will be providing handouts to speed up the process and provide things like equipment packs to get people playing as soon as possible.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
