Lost Mine of Phandelver

Lost Mine of Phandelver

Legends long have spoken of the lost mine, rich in ore and magic, in the hills outside the frontier town of Phandalin, but no one has ever found it… until now. The Rockseeker brothers, a trio of dwarven prospectors, have unearthed the entrance to the near-mythical mine, and they’re hiring rough-and-tumble adventurers to help them reopen it. But they’re not the only ones seeking the fabled treasures sealed away in them there hills; a mysterious network of bandit gangs, goblins, and their secret masters want the lost mine for themselves! Now this magical gold rush is a race to the finish! Lost Mine of Phandelver is the very first adventure module released for the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons. Designed as an introductory campaign to learn the game, it’s likely that thousands of players cut their teeth on Lost Mine. It stands the test of time as a fantastic way to get started playing D&D while bringing a fresh “fantasy western” take to the game: a frontier town on the verge of a gold rush, under threat from bandits and the hostile wilderness, just waiting for a drifting band of heroes to roll through and tip the balance. Only question is, do you have what it takes?

Lost Mine of Phandelver is the perfect introduction to D&D. It’s an easy-to-follow adventure with a classic fantasy feel—goblins, dwarven ruins, and a hidden treasure to uncover. The story is straightforward, making it great for new players, but there’s still plenty of room for creativity and character development. The town of Phandalin offers a central hub for roleplay, while the surrounding wilderness is full of dangers and secrets. It’s well-balanced with exploration, combat, and social encounters, giving players a taste of everything D&D has to offer. If you’re looking to get friends into the game, this is the perfect place to start.

Lost Mines is many folks first foray into D&D and TTRPGs in general, its easy to run, and the story is simple with an easy-to-follow formula. Its good for what it is, an introduction. If one is new to the hobby Lost Mines is a great place to start!

This is a great adventure for anyone new to playing or Dungeon Mastering Dungeons & Dragons. Has all of the foundational pillars of D&D and you can easily integrate your characters' stories in the adventure as well.

Excellent start adventure for new players, it's important for the DM to study the content thoroughly as it can be confusing if you just try to play through it on the fly.

It's a classic for a reason! Lost Mine of Phandelver is great for new players and easy for DMs to adjust and build upon to make something memorable. It's got all the good D&D tropes and a solid mix of combat, roleplay, and exploration, which makes it ideal for a first adventure! As a full campaign, it needs some work from the DM to really make it sing, especially in fleshing out the factions or connecting it to a wider world. There's also a very sad lack of dragons throughout. But in the right hands, this can be a wonderful introduction to the amazing world of D&D! Ultimately, I think this is a great campaign for a first-time player, and an excellent campaign for a second-time Dungeon Master (although for a very new DM I'd recommend starting with Dragons of Stormwreck Isle first). Enjoy the adventure!

This was the first campaign I played with my now long standing group and I have run it personally since and I can easily say this is one of the best way to introduce people to the game of D&D. It has it's small problems but nothing some prep work can't fix. With the Homebrew community of D&D this campaign has a ton of extra stuff that can enhance it. Love it.
