About the adventure

In just five years the fiends from beyond the cosmos "Underfiends" would have completely corrupted and utterly decimated every humanoid civilization on Terra, had it not been for player characters of the game. This campaign takes place halfway between an invasion on any of the planet Terra's fifteen nations. Players as a group will be able to choose one of fifteen diverse and magical nations. Each geographic option allowing them to brave a different moment in these five years. Societal vulnerabilities, and the Underfiend's war strategies are all influenced by this choice. This is not a post-apocalyptic game with themes of rebuilding society, the apocalypse is right here, right now. During the campaign, characters explore their backstories and grow stronger the longer they outlast the Apocalypse. Diseases, curses, ravaged lands, and corruption all stand in your way. Will they oppose the Underfiends, join them, or simply focus on survival? This game is a perfect fit for combat appreciating power builders looking for a lethal challenge. It also will inspire dialogue and story geared players who are craving a dark game, while leaning away from gothic horror. This game is not a good fit for players who have an aversion from the possibility of character death, madness, or transformation. Victory and failure may be subjective. The only certainty is the joy that we will share as a group while the world falls apart!

How to prepare

Please have a secure connection to the internet, a reliable microphone, and a quiet environment lacking background noise such as family, loud pets, construction, or personal distractions. You will need a discord account, a firm understanding of the core D&D5e rules, and confident roleplay skills. These are the policies for the game, by requesting to join the game you acknowledge and consent to these policies. These will also be briefly reviewed during session 0. By adhering to these policies, we aim to create a harmonious, exciting, and memorable gaming experience for everyone. While these rules will be brought up with a growth-based mindset, repeated violation of these policies could result in administrative action, not limited to expulsion from the game. Rules Lawyering My interpretation of any game ruling during sessions is final. Respectfully voicing opinions is encouraged, however extensive debate will not be entertained. Prolonged discussion about rules should be reserved for after the session as to not disrupt the flow of the game. If a ruling is unclear, I will make a temporary ruling and follow up with a concrete ruling after the session. Regarding questions about personal mechanics, homebrew, or statistics, players and I hold the right to privacy. Asking a question that is important for you as a character to know is not unencouraged. Questions that satiate a player's general curiosity may not be answered by your party or myself. Playersplaining Please do not interrupt or debate me on my campaign with the intention of correcting me. This is including but not limited to: Lore surrounding the planes, pantheon, and history, as well as how science or physics work in real life. Cultural Competence Thrive to be open minded and willing to not just be tolerant, but supportive of the people you play with. Strive to use the preferred names and pronouns of myself, your party, and the characters. Don't say slurs you can't reclaim. Respect boundaries and use open communication. Be informed on neurodiverse friendly communication including tone indicators, trauma informed perspectives, and direct language. Most importantly, be willing to take accountability if you have a slip in cultural competence. As long as I can see you care, I strive to facilitate growth, not shame. Attendance I understand life gets in the way. Always give me as much notice as possible if you suspect you will miss a session. If you miss three sessions within five weeks I will reach out to you and initiate a friendly discussion regarding your schedule. If determined necessary, we will work together on a way for your character to bow out until you are able to return to the table. Feedback Feedback is always accepted, this is our world, what you think matters to me. Feedback can be given privately or during "Aftercare." I may not be able to fully compromise at times, but common ground and addressing the root of the problem can always be a way to ensure fun for all.

What I provide

I do have Talespire and Inkarnate, although I am educating myself on how they work. It is unclear when they will be consistently incorporated into the game. Owlbear Rodeo will be used until then. In the meantime I will deliver a masterful theater of the mind experience. The server we play on will have scenery art, character art, and general art to aid imagination. There will be a playlist representative of the game's soundtrack. As the story progresses more songs are unlocked. Positioning will be tracked on Owlbear Rodeo during combats. You can look forward to meeting Dynamic NPCs and enemies. I will make combat engaging with a smooth combat procedure and battle narration. A Fiendish Doomsday is a detail oriented campaign filled to the brim with opportunity for character development, social commentary, and alternative endings based on plot maps, natural consequences, and player feedback. I DO NOT CLAIM OWNERSHIP OF ANY MUSIC OR ART USED FOR THIS CAMPAIGN

Gameplay details

The Luxton Technique Discussion and lines and veils will be completed during on boarding. During sessions I may call for a 3-5 minute break, this can be used for physiological needs, destimuation, processing, or preparations. Players are also encouraged to take care of their needs and request me to pause if it is a matter of protecting mental health. As sessions end, aftercare is conducted by gauging if everyone is doing okay with the subjects that were portrayed. We then do a highlight reel where everyone shares their favorite moment. We give time to ask (in character or out of character) questions. Finally we facilitate dedicated time for players to express wishes for the future of the story and an opportunity to vent or give feedback to avoid bleed. Open communication all the way.

How will character creation work

Create a level 3 character with a stat array total of 86 before racial bonuses or ASI bonuses. You design your stats by assigning a number of these points to an ability score. All of the stats before racial / ASI bonuses must add up to 86. You cannot increase a stat beyond 20 with this method. Here are example arrays: 10, 10, 14, 16, 18, 18 6, 6, 14, 20, 20, 20 14, 14, 14, 14, 15, 15 You may not choose a background that provides the benefit of a feat, the only way to achieve a level 1 feat is by going Vhuman. Pick an uncommon magic item of your choice. Pick any standard equipment of your choice, currency will not be relevant. Homebrew must be approved by me, and I must be able to access sheets before session 0 begins. I do not have a preference for how you create your sheet as long as I am able to access it.
