About the adventure

Nightmares of Futures Past. Sentinels have taken over America and hunt down mutants. They've opened up an internment camp in your city and Sentinels fly irregular patrols over the paranoid populace. You have people trying to keep you alive and fighting as you work with the underground to save yourself and others. There's a massive movement starting to build against the government but, right now, you're an isolated cell of mutants trying to survive against the Sentinels and the local forces of hatred and bigotry. The revolution starts with you. You'll be protecting and maintaining ties with your allies while dodging Sentinels and trying to free the Mutants who've been rounded up. The NPCs won't be faceless walk-ons. Many of them will be the characters you get to know, love, and hate. We'll be creating a relationship map with some of the important ones at the start. We will be dealing with a lot of dark topics, as the Mutants are a hunted and persecuted group in this timeline. The characters will carve out their hope and fight against a world that fears and hates them and is often incentivized to turn them in. That said, if you're tired of "wokeness" in games, this game is absolutely not the game for you.

About me

ImprovGM on Tiktok. I've been doing improv for over 20 years and run workshops at GenCon teaching those skills to gamers. I run a wide variety of games that focus on player run narratives that emphasize characters and emotional stakes. I've had a great time seeing how much people and scenes come alive in the workshops I've run and want to bring that to others.

Character creation

Creating your character

We’ll be creating characters together, as per Marvel FASERIP rules with the Ultimate Powers Book. All PCs will be mutants. We’ll also put together a small relationship map that will include the people and locations your characters already know. This will help the world feel more alive and connected, as you’ll be creating your allies and enemies.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I have a Discord I use for the games I run. We'll also use Zoom and Roll20.

What Mikel (ImprovGM) brings to the table

I’m coming in with nearly 30 years of improv experience, 22 years as an educator, and most of my life as an actor/director. We use theatre of the mind and delve deep into the PCs and their relationships with the world around them. Given the nature of Nightmares of Futures Past, other people take a huge spotlight with the threat of the Sentinels hovering above.

Homebrew rules

We'll be creating a relationship map during the first session that will include your allies, enemies, and loved ones.
