About the adventure

Barovia needs heroes. Strahd von Zarovich has ruled this mist-shrouded land for centuries, and every soul here is a prisoner — including, now, you. I'm running D&D's greatest gothic horror campaign as a weekly paid table, and this is my second time running it. You get the benefit of that: a living Barovia where your choices matter, a Strahd who schemes around you instead of waiting in a castle, and horror that earns its scares. Expect a sandbox you can explore freely, NPCs with real agendas, combat with teeth, and a table where roleplay gets rewarded. Newcomers welcome. Fair warning: I run a challenging game. Death is on the table but never cheap — and retreat is always an option. All players are welcome at my table — I'm not LGBTQIA+ myself, but those who are absolutely are.

About me

Howdy! I am an experienced Dungeon Master of nearly 40 years, and have been a paid GM since 2020. The core of my philosophy as a game master is that this is _your_ game, not mine. I pride myself on creating a fun, immersive, and rich experience for all of the players. I am generally easy going, and always open to criticism on how to make each game more fun for everyone at the table. I do run a slightly harder game. I like providing a challenge to the players, so they can come out feeling like the heroes they truly are! That being said, I am not cruel, nor vindictive as a DM. I (almost) never pull punches, and I don't shy away from character death, but I feel terrible each time a character does die.

Safety

How Aaron creates a safe table

We begin with a free session 0 to set expectations and meet the party. I use the X card: if anything crosses a line for you, play it and we stop and adjust, no questions asked. The door is always open: step away whenever you need to.
