About the adventure
An ancient wizard has a very particular craving: the apple pie he remembers from his childhood. When he decides that nothing else will do, he hires a group of adventurers to track down the bakery that once made his favorite treat. The journey leads you to Grammy's Country Bakery, a small countryside bakery that was once famous for producing the finest apple pies around. Unfortunately, getting your hands on one won't be quite as simple as expected. What begins as a seemingly straightforward delivery job quickly turns into an adventure involving exploration, investigation, unexpected encounters, and plenty of opportunities for creative problem-solving. This is a lighthearted fantasy adventure with room for both roleplay and combat. I enjoy giving players the freedom to approach situations in their own way, so clever ideas and unexpected solutions are always welcome. The world will react to your choices, and paying attention to small details may prove surprisingly useful. Whether you're a longtime D&D player or relatively new to the game, you're welcome at my table. My goal is to create a relaxed, fun environment where everyone gets a chance to contribute, enjoy the story, and make their own memorable moments. Come ready to work as a team, interact with the world, and, of course, find out whether Grammy's apple pie really is as good as everyone says.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I've been a tabletop RPG player since 1999, across a range of systems: 2nd Edition, 3rd Edition, 3.5, Pathfinder 1st Edition, Vampire: The Masquerade, and others. About five years ago, circumstances put me behind the screen as a Dungeon Master. So far I've only run 5th Edition campaigns, though I'm not ruling out branching into other systems down the road. I'll admit my favorite thing to run and play, hands down, is classic medieval high-fantasy.

Creating your character
I will have pre-made characters ready to play, but you're welcome to create your own character if you prefer. We will be using D&D 5e (2014). Ability scores will be generated by rolling 4d6, dropping the lowest die, six times to create an ability score array. We will do this twice and choose the better set. You may use official D&D 5e (2014) content only. No homebrew or third-party content. The Player's Handbook (5e, 2014) contains everything you need for character creation. Since we are using Roll20, I recommend using the Charactermancer to create your character.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
If you don't already have accounts, please create free accounts on Discord and Roll20 before the game. You will need both to join the game and communicate with the group. No additional software or preparation is required. I'll provide everything else you need before the session.
What Erick Gutiérrez brings to the table
Background music may be available during the session. I try to give characters different voices and accents, but I'm not a voice actor, so I prioritize delivering the character's personality and message clearly over maintaining an accent or voice. Combat can be tactical and challenging, but roleplay is an important part of my approach to tactics. The way your character thinks, their personality, and the situation can all influence how encounters unfold. I try to follow the rules as written whenever possible, but I may bend or ignore a rule when the specific situation calls for it and doing so improves the experience. Most importantly, be ready to have fun, make meaningful choices, and explore a world that is open to your decisions.

How Erick Gutiérrez creates a safe table
If at any point something makes you uncomfortable, you can send me an X, N or 0 through chat, either publicly or privately. You don't need to explain yourself or justify why you're using it. Once I know, we'll pause and address the situation by changing the scene, skipping the content, or handling it in whatever way makes everyone comfortable.
