About the adventure

A rival tribe has struck in the night. Cattle are missing. Slap on your sandals and snag your spear. Let’s hope we’re not off to a “rocky” start. Welcome to the bronze age fantasy world of Glorantha! Hoist the amphora! I would like to assemble a group to play Chaosium’s RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha RPG (aka RQ RIG or 7e). I intend on running a series of published adventures with some elements of exploration within Dragon Pass. I propose starting with “The Broken Tower” from the QuickStart rules and or the adventures from the Starter Set using the premade characters. If that game is a success, let’s pick where we want to go next. By the way, success looks like the players and GM liking each other, the game, the format, the style, etc. I will let the players decide where we head next. I am interested in two options at the moment: 1. Running the rest of the published RQ adventures such as The Pegasus Plateau and The Smoking Ruin. OR 2. Running the epic Six Seasons in Sartar set of adventures (three massive tomes from the Jonstown Compendium). There are pros and cons to both, and we will talk and figure out what we want to do. I have run a ton of Call of Cthulhu and Delta Green, so BRP is in my blood. But I am a relatively newer fan of RQ, having run the quick start and starter set for my in-person group. However, I have been enjoying reading the books for the past +5 years. The game will be done through theater of the mind as voice chat through Discord using a dicebot. GoogleDrive will be used to store character sheets, rulebooks, handouts, etc. This game will run biweekly. Sessions are scheduled on Wednesdays, 6-9 PM CST - though I’m open to starting at 5-8 PM. Three hours is the minimum; four hours is not uncommon, but five should be rare. There's usually a 5-10 minute break partway through the session that anyone can ask for. There will be a session zero, stars & wishes every session, and reminders to be proactive in regard to comfort level before, during, and after sessions. About me

My name is Michael, and I've been playing and running tabletop role playing games since the 90s when I was a young teen. My first character was a paladin in AD&D 2e. I was hooked. I became a FASA fanboy; Battletech, Shadowrun, and Earthdawn became my favorites. I attended a few conventions as a teenager and learned to appreciate all kinds of RPGs: GURPS, Rifts, Cthulhu, etc. When D&D 3.X hit, I ran a ton of that for my friend group. But then I moved away, went to school, began a career in teaching, and started a family. I took a long break from gaming not thinking I'd return. But 2020 was a wild year for everyone, and I got right back into gaming. I started a local in-person group then, and we still play weekly more often than not. We have a good problem: we have too many GMs. Since I don't get to GM as much as I would like, and my kids are at that age where they spend less time with dad and more time with friends, I started a second group online using Discord and theatre of the mind. I ran one consistent Shadowrun campaign for a year and a half, running published adventures more than biweekly. This was unaffiliated with StartPlaying, which I had not heard of at the time. I have a bucket list of systems, settings, and scenarios I've always wanted to run but haven't had the opportunity to do so in person. I am looking forward to running them for you, so let's StartPlaying. The link to my YouTube page below has videos of this profile as an audio tour, my GM expectations, and current campaign log.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will likely use premades for the first session. Then we will choose what we want to do next.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The game will be done through theater of the mind as voice chat through Discord using a dicebot. When you have joined the campaign, join the Discord server and notify me so I can grant you access to the proper channels.

Homebrew rules

We are playing the game RAW, theater of the mind, using Discord voice chat and a dicebot. All dice are rolled in the open that way (unless the rules or adventure tell the GM to make a secret roll).
