About the adventure
Waterdeep is abuzz with rumors of a hidden cache of gold left behind by its previous Open Lord, but no one knows where it is. While all the city's power players go on the hunt, an intrepid group of heroes might just pull off the score of the century, if they don't get in over their heads. Do you enjoy games in vibrant settings, with lots of competing factions and NPCs to contend with? Dragon Heist brings the city of Waterdeep to life and immerses you in a web of intrigue that can prove dangerous if you're not careful. Explore the city, make some friends, make even more enemies, and unravel the mystery at the heart of adventure before someone else beats you to it!

About me
I'm Chris! I've been GMing professionally for over 6 years now, and running games for over 10. Most of that experience has been in Dungeons & Dragons, though I know and love many other systems as well. I've run for everyone from those with decades of TTRPG experience to people who had never played before, so I'm comfortable teaching the game as we go or just diving right in.

Creating your character
Characters will be created using the rules in the 2024/5.5e ruleset. Any species, class, background, or subclass from an official source is allowed. If you wish to use something homebrewed, please run it by me first so I can okay it. I'll run the group through character creation at the start of the first session, but please have a concept in mind beforehand so we can keep the session moving!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I run my games through Roll20. You'll need to make a free account there to be able to join, and we'll make character sheets within Roll20 during the first session. Once the game has started I'll send everyone an invite to join the game on Roll20.
What Chris brings to the table
I usually play background music, as well as themes for characters, moments, and fights. I also try to give every NPC a voice and some personality so they feel a little more alive. I tend to make fights difficult but fair, so be prepared to get into some sticky situations. I largely follow Rules as Written, but I'm always willing to work with players if they want to do something there isn't an exact rule for!

How Chris creates a safe table
I will send everyone a survey before the first session that includes space to list any Lines or Veils you may have. I also utilize the X card, usually typed in chat, for any situations that may make a player uncomfortable. I typically give everyone a 15-minute break mid-session. In general, I strive to run a welcoming and inclusive table, and I am happy to make any adjustments or accommodations if requested!
