About the adventure
A perfect game for magic lovers, players looking to feel the whimsical wonder of a Hogwarts-esque world (without the author's problematic views) and delve into collage hijinks perfect for players new to D&D. At Strixhaven University, even as you get caught up in the adventures, the characters have to continue going to class, doing homework, and studying for exams. You'll live in university housing, eat in dining halls, and spend the majority of their time on campus. They eat, sleep, study, socialize, and adventure as part of a community of students, faculty, and staff. The school is like a town, where a relatively small cast of characters can play significant roles over the course of the campaign. While Strixhaven is a magical school, study at Strixhaven isn’t about learning to be a wizard but about learning to be a historian, an artist, an orator, a scientist, or some other profession—while using magic to enhance one’s studies. Characters of any class can study at Strixhaven, whether they’re full-fledged spellcasters like wizards, clerics, and druids; they manage a spell or two thanks to a subclass or feat; or they manifest magical abilities that aren’t even spells. (For example, a barbarian who follows the Path of the Ancestral Guardian, described in Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, can excel in studying history at Lorehold College by virtue of their connection to an ancestral spirit.) Strixhaven draws students and faculty from across the world and from other realms in the multiverse. The university’s students and faculty are united by a desire to learn and include humans, elves, dwarves, owlin, orcs, trolls, vampires, and studious folk of many other origins - almost any and every race in D&D could appear on Strixhaven's campus. You'll begin as first year students. Students at Strixhaven spend their first year in a course of general studies, which lays the foundation for the more specialized work to follow. During this year, they wear a uniform of black, white, and gray. They’re encouraged to study broadly so that they become acquainted with a wide range of disciplines. First-year students live in dormitories located on the central campus and often form close friendships there that last throughout their educational careers, even when members of tight-knit groups of friends join different colleges in their second year. A few students continue to live on central campus after choosing a college, particularly if they pursue extensive studies in multiple colleges or work as resident advisers to first-year students. But most students move to dormitories located on their chosen college’s campus in their second year. Before starting their second year of studies, students choose one of the five colleges—Lorehold, Prismari, Quandrix, Silverquill, or Witherbloom—to be their academic home for the remainder of their education.

About me
Hello there! Welcome in, take a seat and all that. My name is River, I am an actor, producer, pretend-writer and all around nerd. I ran my very first game of D&D 10 years ago now - and I've been playing various ttrpgs for almost 14. My focus is on roleplay-forward, 'sandbox' style games. Meaning I hope to allow player characters to have a big impact on the world and story. Before each game starts we'll have some time about the kind of narrative you want to experience and how I can tailor what I've got prepared to that :) I hope to be a warm and helpful introduction if you've never played the game before or a more custom experience for those veteran players. Queer-friendly, new player friendly... Whoever you are I aim to make sure you have a great time at my table.

Creating your character
Character creation can be done in a few ways. You can: - choose a premade character made by me just before the first session - make a character yourself, in which case message me for access to the Strixhaven supplement book, feel free to message me about any guidance on making a character as well. - We'll be starting at level 1, any official WoTC material is fair game, please use point buy or standard array for character creation. Ignore any encumbrance rules.

What River_runs_games brings to the table
I try to embody a "vague and evocative" rules style where rules can be bent and "rule of cool" can apply to serve the narrative and my players enjoyment of the game at the table. I try to create an immersive atmosphere with music (that you can mute if you prefer in discord), voices etc. This campaign will be based of a pre-written module but I will certainly incorporate NPCs and stories specific to your characters to help you immerse in the game.
Homebrew rules
Some buffed Healing rules. Drinking a potion can be done as a bonus action. Critical roles on skill checks will always result on a success and Nat 1s will always fail. "Rule of Cool"

How River_runs_games creates a safe table
I have a session 0 and a pre-game checklist of any potentially triggering content. During play, players can either privately or publicly flag content they want to stop or be veiled. After each session, I will try to always stick around for a little while in case anyone wishes to talk about anything that happened in the game.
