About the adventure
Neon City is a megalopolis with buildings that stretch hundreds of stories up. The Corporations openly control politics, authority, and all forms of power. Each executive owns a sector and has been gifted technology, professionals, and assets to bleed their territory dry. Once a neighborhood is brought to its knees, the Corporation builds over it, restructures itself, and salvages what’s left. It’s brutal, dehumanizing, and merciless. The Corporation sees people as commodities. Lives are traded by perceived value, advertisement campaigns program the populace, and propaganda maintains compliance and obscures the truth. The Corporation is a machine that seeks to outlive us all. But we’re here to break that machine—forever. On the edges of the city, diverse communities live on what they can scavenge and build together. These communities are thousands of people strong, each with their own factions, cultures, and laws. People navigate social circles with grace and daring, cashing in debts and building networks of favors. Life on the fringes is about survival. Light cycle gangs stare down the Corporation to protect their territory and each other. People are wary and resilient, each bearing the trauma inflicted by the Corporation. But people are also loving and full of hope, compassionate when their trust is earned. Salvaging and repurposing technology is the heart of the revolution. This could involve transferring a soul into a mechanical body to uncover secrets, helping an AI realize their potential beyond servitude, or stealing Corporation augments to rebuild themselves. As oppressive and cruel as the Corporations are, many support and uphold its injustice. They fight for scraps, seek to get ahead, and serve as lackeys. They’re content to perpetuate cycles of use and abuse, and are more dangerous and sinister than those who hold power.

About me
Hello there! Welcome in, take a seat and all that. My name is River, I am an actor and producer and have played and run D&D and other TTRPGs for 10 years! I was introduced to TTRPGs watching my older siblings play with these stories (with probably a bit too much adult content for little-me), and begging my mum (yes, I'm British) to let me stay up past my bedtime. Eventually, I joined in and was completely lost in what to do or say or act but I was fascinated and didn't care to be wrong and was totally hooked by this fantasy world that even today I swear I have memories of seeing that world more than sitting around a table. Fast forward to my teenage self and I found a few friends who wanted to play and I decided that despite never playing 5th edition I'd be perfectly capable of running it. It was messy and wonderful and I took great pleasure introducing this mad game to anyone and everyone I knew and suddenly this game I thought only I had heard of was everywhere and more popular than ever. My focus is running inclusive, immersive, roleplay-focused games. D&D is a collaborative, beautiful and often utterly ridiculous game. It has brought me a lot of good memories and friendships over my life and whether you are a veteran player or completely new to the game I hope we can create a fun, engaging story together. I tend to prefer playing a 'sandbox' style game following the story that is specific to the character YOU make and the story YOU want to tell.

Creating your character
You should make a character who lives in one of the fringe communities of the city. You are a part of a community that in its survival, stands opposed to the corporate entity. Session 0 - There will be a session 0 to delve into character creation, think about party relationships and make sure this is the table for you. Content - Any content from official DnD sourcebooks are allowed as well as a few homebrew options created specifically for this setting. Character creation will often involve 'reskinning' of class and subclass concepts into something that fits a cyberpunk more modern setting. E.g. a 'shifter'-race feature being due to significant experimental biomodification.

What River brings to the table
This game features a homebrew setting that is shaped in part by players' choices. If you hand me an invested backstory, chances are it'll appear in the narrative. I can supply pdfs of all core rulebooks and fillable character sheets or something pre-made if you'd rather. I try to create an immersive atmosphere with music in discord (that you can mute or turn down if you prefer), voices, evocative description etc. I run 'theatre of the mind' combat. Don't be afraid to try things, one of the benefits of this style is that your character sheet and official abilities are never the only things you can do.

How River creates a safe table
I have a session 0 and a pre-game checklist of any potentially triggering content. During play, players can either privately or publicly flag content they want to stop or be veiled. After each session, I will try to always stick around for a little while in case anyone wishes to talk about anything that happened in the game.
