About me

I have been a DM since 3.5 in 2011. I primarily use Roll20. I have thousands of hours in game, prepping, and more. I run modules and homebrew campaigns. I am not strict when it comes to what people play but I am a firm believer of letting the dice decide and not fudging dice. I take time to set people up but I primarily prefer Roll20s character mancer myself. Everyone is welcome at the table but respect and kindness is required. Rule 0 is always in play...which is have fun.

Character creation

Creating your character

For creating your character, 90% of the character creation process will be done in the Charactermancer in Roll20 if you are new. I would prefer characters are made through this method but sometimes you have stuff you bought and want to play and I am down to work with you on making the perfect character for your experience!!! Biggest thing, session 0 is where this will happen but if you know what you want to play ahead of time, that would help as well! We will be rolling for stats and I do offer rerolls as well because I want us to have fun and not be hindered by not enjoying your character.

The current party

So far we have a Barbarian and a Bard/Rogue.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

In order to actually play together, a few things are needed but the accounts are free. I really only require 2. 1. Discord - This is for communication. Video isn't mandatory, but voice chat is. This is needed to talk to you and the rest of the party. 2. Roll20 - This is for battle maps, character sheets, etc. I pay for premium so on my games you get access to my compendiums and don't get any ads.

What Spadez brings to the table

I offer a lot for my games, but most of which is the time and preparation I put in to make sure your characters and you feel at ease and in place. Here are some examples. Free Session 0 - Before you even spend a dime it would be nice to know that you like your potential party and your GM. I offer a free session 0 to make sure it is right for you. Rule of Cool - Though I enjoy RAW, sometimes the actions based on good or bad rolls outweigh that. Rolling 2 natural 20's in a row might make you succeed in something outside your DC. Music - I generally run some music in the background and working in some sound effects via a mixer or Roll20's jukebox depending on the situation. Crafting System - Using some homebrew rules and as close to RAW crafting as I can, creating items for yourself or sale is now easier to track. Though some items still take time, it is now easier track based on the items you have.

Homebrew rules

I have only 1 Homebrew rule that I feel adds quality of life to the game. Potions - Bonus action to use a potion and roll if it requires it or you can use an action and get max rolls from the potion (depending on what it is). Initiative in Battle - Group vs Enemy initiatives. If half the party beats the enemy's initiative bonus the entire party goes first, if not, then second. This helps promote teamwork as players can choose who does what in what order. 2024 Crafting - Though we are playing 2014 rules, some quality of life stuff makes sense. This allows players to make items or put together things in half the time. Don't be reliant on just shops when your party may have the experience to make the items you need.

Safety

How Spadez creates a safe table

Session 0 - This is a big one. It is important before we even begin to let players know that this is a safe space. Here we will go over ways to prevent triggers before they have a chance to occur. N, X and O - These are digital cards you can use to help make sure that nothing is becoming too uncomfortable or in a direction that doesn't feel right. We will go over them in session 0. After Care - Messages will be sent via discord after the game to check in. Make sure that everything is alright, expectations are being met, and that nothing uncomfortable happened during the game. I do this privately to make sure that players don't feel judged on how they feel.
