About me
Hello! My name is Diego - I'm a professional nerd, and looking to run some games! I've been playing RPGs for over 7 years, and GM-ing the ENTIRE time. I'm one of those perennial GM-types. But it's okay - it suits me. In addition to playing all kinds of games (campaigns, one-shots, indie games, 5e, I even ran a year-long game of the ORIGINAL 1976 D&D ruleset), I'm also a game designer myself, and 1/2 of the game studio Marshland Games, where I've created games that have been published with Scryptid Games, Plus One Experience, and independently. In addition to playing and designing games, I'm also an improviser and actor! I taught for years at the Philly Improv Theater in, you guessed it, Philly, where I performed multiple times a week in addition to teaching. I've recently relocated to LA, where I perform and study at UCB, WGIS, and other acronymed theaters. My GM-ing style is focused on player agency. I'm a big advocate for the idea that a player's choices should matter and affect the story - you'll get no railroading from me! I rely on my improv chops and world-building prep to make things make sense, and honestly really love the pivoting and following the fun that comes with GM-ing. I love games of all kinds, but I'm a particularly big fan of games with unique rulesets, and as an indie designer myself, have a sweet spot for anything coming from a smaller publisher. But I'm honestly just excited to play with good folks who want to tell fun, meaningful stories. Join me?

Creating your character
Character creation will take place at the start of the session, and should last about 30 minutes, and will accompany a brief explanation of the rules.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have a Discord account prior to playing, and must join the Marshland Games Super Hub server. A link will be shared upon signing up for the session! Any files needed to play (rule cheatsheets, etc.) will be shared at the start of the session, unless requested in advance.
What Diego brings to the table
In a game like this, having unique and quirky character voices and traits are essential to bringing this story to life. As a voice actor and comedian, I have a pretty good knack for clear and distinct characters, and it's one of my favorite things to do in a game! I often use soundtrack and ambient music to create moods during play - it can make such a difference at the table to create wonder, mystery, and sometimes danger. The game will be played as theater of the mind, and there is not much chance of combat or tactical action during play.

How Diego creates a safe table
Before the session begins, I will send a document that allows players to select what topics they may feel uncomfortable playing with, so that I can ensure a proactively safe and welcoming environment. During play we will use the X-card system, so that players may signal at any time comfort levels.
