Creating your character
Character creation takes place collaboratively before and during Session Zero inside Foundry VTT: - Starting Level: Level 3 (the ideal sweet spot with archetypes online and immediate heroic synergy). - Stat Generation: Player's choice (Heroic Rolled 4d6 drop lowest with safety floor, Point Buy, or Standard Array). - Allowed Material: All official D&D 5e books, plus balanced dark fantasy 3rd-party options (Grim Hollow, Kobold Press, MCDM, LaserLlama) upon collaborative GM review. - Personal Hooks & Secrets: Each character receives a bespoke connection to the region's mystery or a rumor hook tying their backstory into the world. - Foundry VTT Automation: Fully automated sheets, custom token art, and drag-and-drop spells pre-loaded directly in your web browser.

Preparing for the session
To prepare for Session Zero: 1. Read the D&D 2024 rules primer (provided) if you're new to the 2024 ruleset. 2. Bring a character concept: species, class, and a rough backstory (1 paragraph is enough) 3. Think about 2-3 things that unsettle your character - fears that will shape their reactions 4. Working microphone and stable internet connection required 5. Discord account for voice; Foundry VTT access link provided (no install needed - runs in browser) No Ravenloft experience required. New to the setting? Perfect -discovering it through the Mists is the point.
