About the adventure

**SZASS TAM MUST DIE!** You’re not level 11 because you’re ready for adventure. You’re level 11 because the world needs heroes who can walk into Hell itself and still have enough fight left in them to face what’s waiting at the end. **Szass Tam must die.** The infamous lich and ruler of Thay has set his latest scheme in motion, and the consequences could reshape the world forever. The only problem? Stopping him means facing an enemy with centuries of experience, terrifying magic, and an army of the undead standing between you and your target. This is **Deadfall: Szass Tam Must Die!** — a high-level Dungeons & Dragons adventure designed for characters beginning at **Level 11**. And let me be absolutely clear: **I will not be going easy on you.** At this level, your characters are powerful. You have legendary spells, devastating abilities, magical equipment and the kind of experience that would make most adventurers retire comfortably. Unfortunately, the Zulkirs of Thay have noticed you, and they want **You** to assassinate the Zullkir-Lich of Necromancy! Expect brutal encounters, dangerous environments, powerful enemies and situations where charging ahead with swords swinging may not be the best plan. Your decisions will matter, your resources will be tested, and sometimes the smartest thing you can do is run. **Character death is a real possibility.** But that's part of the fun. This is a game for players who want to experience what D&D looks like when the gloves come off. I’ll give you challenging encounters, meaningful choices, opportunities for clever plans and plenty of chances to feel like the incredibly powerful heroes you’ve become. I won't be trying to kill your characters for the sake of killing them — but I **will** play the enemies intelligently, use their abilities effectively, and let the dice fall where they may. You’ll need teamwork. You’ll need strategy. You’ll need to know what your character can do. And, frankly, you’re probably going to need a little luck. So gather your party, sharpen your blades, prepare your spells and make peace with your hit points. Because there is a lich who needs killing. **Szass Tam must die.** The only question is whether you’re the heroes who can make it happen… or the next names added to his army of the dead.

About me

Join me in a realm where quality storytelling meets heart-pounding excitement. Together, we'll forge narratives that echo with laughter, spark with intrigue, and reverberate with the pure joy of collaborative creativity! Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a first-time traveller, the magic of role-playing games awaits! Infused with a theatrical spirit, my storytelling transcends mere narration. Every character springs to life, each plot twist unfolds like a scene on a grand stage. Drawing from my background in acting, I bring an extra layer of depth to your tabletop odyssey, where your every decision, every roll of the dice, is a stepping stone towards an unforgettable epic!!

Character creation

Creating your character

Please bring 3 character concepts to the Session 0. During the Session 0, we will have an open table discussion about what characters will best fit the setting and narrative. We will then complete the creation process, rolling 4d6 Drop Lowest for stats (re-roll anything less than an 8). I have a huge library of content I am willing to share. Should you wish to utilise content you own, please clear with me first. No Homebrew content - I do own a copy of Subclasses Revivifed, which offers a 2024 update to many classic 2014 subclasses, which I am happy to utilise. Please keep to Forgotten Realms content only - the only exception to this is if you have an intriguing and narratively appropriate reason to utilise content from other settings. No Aarokocra or Kenku ("bird people"). Please provide token art at Session 0, so that I can create PC tokens for you. I have a Discord server, where I am available for any questions - and there is no question too stupid! - so please feel free to come ask!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Roll20 Account, and a Discord Account. Both of these can be obtained for free (do not require any monthly subscriptions or one-off payments) My Discord server invites will be issued once you sign up to the game.

What DM Pete Adventures brings to the table

I have been an actor on stage since I was 5, have multiple performances over my life including but not limited to Shakespeare (Midsummer Night's Dream as Oberon), Rocky Horror Show (Frank N Furter) and Little Shop of Horrors (voice of Audrey II) and even performed for a week at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Most recently, I have appeared as Security Officer Shaun Kane in the sci fi movie "Offworld: Alien Planet", which is currently available for free on Amazon and other free movie streaming sites. In addition to this, I have been in 2 rock bands, and appeared on the UK Indie circuit as a Professional Wrestler! Since before I was 10 I have been an avid player of the Fighting Fantasy choose-your-own-adventure gamebooks before getting my introduction to Games Workshop and Warhammer very early on in the 1990s. Despite all of this, I only actually started playing D&D just as everywhere was going into Lockdown due to a mixture of encouragement from my then-partner, and Stranger Things, discovering Critical Role shortly after. I now DM for D&D in several sessions a week in an ongoing campaigns, and also GM both Candela Obscura and Daggerheart. I also GM the Modiphius Fallout 2d20 RPG and Free League's Alien RPG. The game I run focuses more on the roleplay and imaginative side of the game rather than the mechanical, rules driven side. Rule of Cool trumps all, and I reward creative thinking and interaction in character. My personal preference is to shy away from meta game descriptions, for example, if someone asks you how hurt you are, you could describe your physical shape, rather than simply stating how many Hit Points you have. If this sounds like the kind of game you're looking for, then you may be the player for us!!! I'd rather hear a cool concept for a character than have a min/maxxed superhero. There are some restrictions as to content we're using, and I'll let you know if/when you're chosen and creating your character. So, in summary, if this sounds like a game you'd like to be a part of, tell me a bit about your experience, your favourite character you've played, and an epic moment from a game you've played in, or a favourite film. tv show, or book. I look forward to hearing from you soon!!

Safety

How DM Pete Adventures creates a safe table

We will discuss during Session 0 what is acceptable behaviour, content, and tones, and what is not. However, I have a template for you to write down your Lines and Veils (soft and hard "no" to various topics, themes, and content) if you prefer to do so. I am available via Discord should you wish to discuss anything away from the table.
